In a single day, Hollywood cinema in India hit two separate milestones. Spider-Man: Brand New Day overtook Avatar: The Way of Water to become the highest-grossing Hollywood film ever released in India. On that very same day, The Odyssey crossed the Rs 200 crore mark, becoming only the eighth Hollywood film in Indian box office history to reach that milestone.

Both films still have room to run. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is expected to cross Rs 500 crore within a day and could realistically challenge the Rs 600 crore mark before its theatrical run winds down. The Odyssey, meanwhile, is projected to finish its run around Rs 225 crore.

What’s Still to Come This Year

The Hollywood juggernaut in India isn’t slowing down. Avengers: Doomsday is still on the calendar as the biggest Hollywood release of the year, expected to push the market to new heights. But with Spider-Man: Brand New Day setting such a high bar, even Doomsday will have its work cut out matching it.
