Hearthstone Revisits Un’Goro: Lost City Expansion July 8 Launch

Hearthstone returns to the prehistoric crater with The Lost City of Un’Goro, the game’s 30th expansion featuring 145 new collectible cards, released on July 8, 2025. This sequel expansion brings back beloved Quest mechanics while introducing the innovative Kindred keyword for strategic gameplay.

Hearthstone Revisits Un’Goro: Lost City Expansion July 8 Launch

Stylized as the first-ever sequel expansion, The Lost City follows the events of Journey to Un’Goro, with players joining Elise on a hunt for a mythical, lost Tortollan city. The expansion features famous explorer Elise Starseeker and Loh’s team of adventurers in an epic prehistoric adventure.

New Kindred Mechanic: Strategic Synergy

Cards with the Kindred keyword get a bonus effect if you played a card of the same minion type or spell school on your previous turn. This synergy-focused mechanic rewards players for chaining together cards of the same type, activating special effects for strategic advantage.

The Kindred keyword works similarly to the original Un’Goro Elemental mechanic but extends to all minion types and spell schools, creating deeper deck-building strategies and turn-by-turn planning opportunities.

Quest Spells Return

Quest spells are making their return as 1-cost spells that start in your hand, previously seen in Saviors of Uldum and Journey to Un’Goro. These powerful legendary spells provide game-changing rewards upon completion, encouraging specific deck archetypes and playstyles.

Expansion Lore and Setting

Long ago, the Keeper Freya created Un’Goro Crater as a place to experiment with Titan creations, with the Titan’s Watcher Nablya assigned to the Crater and enlisting Tortollan help. Legend tells of a Lost City hidden in Un’Goro’s depths, and it’s up to the great Tortollan explorer Loh to assemble a team for this dangerous expedition.

The expansion promises rich storytelling combined with strategic gameplay innovations, making it a must-play for both competitive and casual Hearthstone players.
