Winner winner, streaming dinner. The PUBG Live Action Series (Krafton/Netflix) has been officially announced, and it comes with a seriously big name attached.

PUBG Live Action Series: Overview

Title	Region	Status	Release Date
PUBG Live Action Series (Krafton/Netflix)	Global/India	Series announcement; in development, no trailer yet	TBD

Who’s Behind It?

Two-time Emmy and Golden Globe winner Donald Glover is set to write, direct, executive produce and star. Stephen Glover joins as a writer and executive producer.

Other executive producers include Michael Schaefer (NEON TV), Fam Udeorji (Gilga), and Taeseok Jang and Sujin Lee (LV3H). The series is being developed with KRAFTON, the Seoul-based gaming giant that runs 19 creative studios. You can read more about the company on the official KRAFTON website.

Why Gamers Are Paying Attention?

PUBG: Battlegrounds helped popularise the battle royale genre, so a live-action take carries huge expectations. Video game adaptations can be hit or miss, but putting an award-winning creator in the driver’s seat suggests Netflix wants something more ambitious than a simple shoot-’em-up on screen. For the game’s history, the PUBG: Battlegrounds Wikipedia page is a good primer.

What It Means for India?

This is where it gets interesting for Indian fans. PUBG Mobile was caught up in the September 2025 app ban, largely because Tencent Games was co-developing and distributing it in India at the time.

KRAFTON then launched BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India) without Tencent’s involvement, with servers in India and Singapore. It has since become a staple of Indian mobile gaming. The main PUBG: Battlegrounds title remains available on PC and console in India.

It’s still unclear how Indian gamers will react to the series, but the BGMI community is huge, so expect plenty of buzz.

What We Don’t Know Yet?

Netflix and KRAFTON haven’t shared a release date, a trailer or any cast beyond Glover. For now, treat this as an early-stage project and keep expectations flexible.
