Hearthstone CATACLYSM Expansion: Deathwing Returns March 17

Hearthstone unleashes chaos March 17, 2026, with CATACLYSM—the card game’s most destructive expansion yet. Blizzard announced February 9 that the undefeated Deathwing is invading from an alternate timeline, bringing massive Colossal minions and game-changing mechanics.

Hearthstone CATACLYSM Key Features

Pre-orders available now through March 17 with exclusive bundles and cosmetics.

Deathwing Hero Card Changes Everything

The first-ever Deathwing Hero Card transforms you into the Worldbreaker with devastating Cataclysm abilities. Choose from four destruction modes: topple enemy minions, raze the board with flame, enthrall minions, or summon dragon progeny. The new Herald keyword amplifies power—use Herald four times to unleash all four Cataclysms simultaneously.

Herald and Colossal Mechanics Explained

Six Deathwing-aligned classes (Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, Warrior) gain Herald, which summons Colossal Soldiers with appendage abilities. Each Herald use doubles their power—twice for 2x strength, four times for maximum devastation.

All 11 classes receive Legendary Colossal cards. Warrior gets Ragnaros, the Great Fire, while Paladin commands Chromatus, Nefarian’s five-headed nightmare.

Dragonflight Defense and Shatter Keyword

Five dragonflight classes (Mage, Priest, Druid, Hunter, Paladin) counter with Legendary Dragon Aspects like Hunter’s Ebyssian, Black Dragon Aspect, who transforms from humanoid to dragon form with Rush abilities.

The Shatter keyword breaks cards into two pieces placed at opposite hand ends. Reunite them by playing cards between to create doubly-powerful combos—perfect for strategic deckbuilding.
