The dreaded green line issue has plagued premium OLED smartphones for years, leaving users with vertical green streaks across their displays. This comprehensive guide covers the most affected devices and available solutions from manufacturers.
Table of Contents
Most Phones Associated with Green Line Issues
The green line problem primarily affects AMOLED displays, appearing as vertical green or pink lines that can render devices unusable. Several flagship brands have acknowledged this widespread issue and offered remedies.
Affected Smartphones Overview
| Brand | Model | Replacement Policy | Severity |
|---|---|---|---|
| OnePlus | 8/8 Pro/8T, 9/9 Pro | Lifetime screen replacement | High |
| Samsung | S20+/Ultra, S21+/Ultra, S22 Ultra | One-time free replacement | High |
| OnePlus | Nord 2, Nord CE, Nord 2T | Limited support | Medium |
| Realme | GT Neo 3, GT 2 Pro | No official policy | Low |
| Vivo | X70 Pro+, X80 Pro | Case-by-case basis | Low |
OnePlus: Leading the Replacement Initiative
OnePlus has been most proactive in addressing green line issues. The company offers lifetime screen replacement for OnePlus 8 and 9 series devices in India, acknowledging the widespread nature of the problem across their flagship lineup.
The OnePlus Nord series has also experienced similar issues, though the company hasn’t extended the same comprehensive replacement policy to budget models.
Samsung’s Response to Display Defects
Samsung acknowledged green line problems in Galaxy S20, S21, and S22 series devices. The company offers one-time free screen replacement in select countries, including India, though the policy varies by region.
Reports suggest these issues often surface after major Android updates, particularly Android 13, indicating potential software-hardware compatibility problems.
Understanding the Root Cause
Green line issues typically stem from AMOLED panel degradation, overheating, software-level voltage mismanagement, or physical damage. The problem often manifests after software updates or extended device usage.
Manufacturer Support Comparison
OnePlus leads with lifetime screen replacement policies, while Samsung offers one-time free replacements. Realme and Vivo have been less responsive, handling cases individually without established policies.
