What Is Funky About?

If you’ve ever dreamed of making a film and had everything go spectacularly wrong, Funky is your film. The story centres on Komal (Vishwak Sen), an aspiring director who sets out to make his debut feature — also called Funky. But as budgets spiral out of control, the film’s producer Sudarshan ends up stressed, unwell, and completely fed up.

Komal gets unceremoniously booted from the director’s chair. In steps Chitra (Kayadu Lohar) to take over and steer the chaotic production to the finish line. What follows is a laugh-a-minute ride through budget crunches, professional clashes, and — naturally — a slow-burning romance between the two leads.

It’s the kind of behind-the-scenes comedy that Tollywood does brilliantly when it gets the tone right. Director KV Anudeep, known for his sharp writing, brings a meta, self-aware energy to the film that fans of Telugu comedy dramas are sure to enjoy.
