Exclusive Interview with Logitech’s Roopak Krishnan on the launch of G Pro X SUPERLIGHT 2 gaming mouse

Logitech has recently launched its ultra-light gaming mouse, going by the name of Logitech G Pro X SUPERLIGHT 2 and we have Mr Roopak Krishnan, Head of Category and Marketing from Logitech India, with us to discuss more about this gaming mouse. Also, he will discuss more about the brand and how it is catering to the Indian audience so far:

You have recently launched the Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2 in the Indian market. What are your expectations and how do you want to target the audience with the Logitech PRO X SUPERLIGHT 2?

Recently, we launched the third generation of our Pro series mouse, the Logitech G Pro X SUPERLIGHT 2. This new edition builds upon the success of its predecessor, the Logitech SUPERLIGHT X Superlight, which was highly praised within the e-sports community for its ergonomic design and advanced technology. 

One of the key features of the Logitech G Pro X SUPERLIGHT 2 is the optomechanical switch, a unique development that combines optical and mechanical technology. This innovation promises to enhance the gaming experience for players, and we are excited to receive feedback from the e-sports community.

Our goal is to target the e-sports audience with this new product line and provide them with the best possible technology for their gaming needs. What are your plans for the on-going festive season?

During the festive season, consumers are on the lookout for high-quality products, whether it’s the latest technology or innovative designs. At this time, we have launched a range of products that cater to different needs, including gaming, lifestyle, and Gen Z product lines such as the studio series and pebble series.

We are particularly excited about our Logitech G product line, which is designed for streamers and creators. We are constantly striving to improve our products and provide the best possible experience for our customers. 

Will there be other new products in the gaming portfolio?

We have two upcoming products in the pipeline, but their launch certifications are pending in India. Once we receive the necessary certifications, we will be able to release these products to our customers.

In the highly competitive gaming accessories market, Logitech has been a prominent player for many years. How do you assess Logitech’s performance and predict its future success in the Indian gaming market?

Competition is healthy for the industry as it drives growth and innovation. Logitech welcomes competition in the gaming accessories market, which indicates that the Indian export industry is expanding rapidly. We remain committed to bringing new and exciting product lines to our customers every five or six months.

Our loyal customer base has been happy with Logitech’s products for many years, both in India and worldwide. In India, we support the sports community by working closely with them and incorporating their feedback into our product development process. This ensures that our products are tailored to meet the needs of sports players in India.

We believe that our new product line will greatly benefit the sports community in India, which is growing rapidly. In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the number of people pursuing sports as a career choice, and this trend is expected to continue post-pandemic. We are excited to support this growth and help sports players in India achieve their goals.

What advantages do you believe the Logitech PRO X SUPERLIGHT 2 offers to gamers?

Sports players prioritize low latency when it comes to gaming, and Logitech’s light speed technology delivers on that front. In fact, the latency is so low that it surpasses even wired connections. Additionally, players no longer have to worry about their wireless mouse running out of battery during extended gaming sessions as the Logitech PRO X SUPERLIGHT 2 has a long-lasting battery life.

Even small details like the feet of the mouse are designed with ergonomics in mind. Logitech uses PTFE feet, which are smoother and more resistant to wear and tear than traditional Teflon feet. The white color of the PTFE feet ensures that there are no additives that could cause resistance or reduce smoothness, resulting in a seamless gliding experience.

The Logitech PRO X SUPERLIGHT 2 also features an improved mechanical optical switch, a unique development that sets it apart from other brands. We are confident that gamers will appreciate these features and look forward to receiving feedback from the community.

Can you share any additional strategies that Logitech plans to implement in India in the coming years, given the shift from mobile gaming to PC gaming and the growing popularity of esports?

As the accessories market continues to grow, Logitech’s strategy for targeting the Indian esports industry is straightforward – we aim to support and foster the growth of the esports community. We have a dedicated development center for gaming in Chennai called Logitech Engineering and Design, which employs over 500 people. 

Our commitment to India is strong, and we will continue to work closely with the esports community to develop products that meet their needs. We value feedback from our customers and strive to improve our products based on their input. Ultimately, our goal is to help the esports industry in India flourish and provide gamers with the best possible experience.

With the upcoming festive season and sales events like the Great Indian Festival and Big Billion Days, can you share any information about Logitech’s plans for offering discounts or promotions on gaming products that gamers should look out for?

During the festive season, both e-commerce and retail sales events like Big Billion Day and Great Indian Festival are highly anticipated by consumers. In the PC gaming accessories market, gamers prioritize high-quality keyboards, mice, and headsets for an immersive gaming experience. Logitech recognizes this and plans to offer specific deals and promotions during these events, both in retail and e-commerce.

Apart from gaming products, Logitech’s Pebble series and lower-tier X series are also popular among Gen Z consumers. The Pebble series, in particular, has been well-received as it caters to the unique requirements of this demographic.

Can you share more about how Logitech is targeting Gen Z consumers with its new products?

Our approach to Gen Z is not solely focused on design and colors. We understand that they desire a product that reflects their personality, lifestyle, and fashion choices. This generation engages in various activities such as gaming, sports, and coding, which is why we have created a product line tailored to their needs. For instance, our Pebble and Studio series are vibrant and cutting-edge, with features like a specially designed scroll wheel for enhanced productivity. While our products incorporate advanced technology, we prioritize design and aesthetics that appeal to the Gen Z consumer.

For gamers who code, we offer an app-customized product line called MX that adapts to specific software like Adobe. Our G4 3 headset is ideal for casual gaming and content consumption on mobile devices, featuring beam-forming technology developed for video conferencing. Our products cater to multiple personas of the same person, whether they’re gaming, working, or socializing. You can easily switch between modes depending on your activity, making our products versatile and adaptable to different work profiles. This is how we’re launching our products in recent times.

Can you provide more context about Logitech’s growth in India and what specifically you would like me to rephrase?

Logitech has observed that the Indian economy is displaying remarkable resilience compared to other economies worldwide. As a result, consumers in India are embracing new technologies and investing in a diverse range of product lines. With the advent of COVID-19, consumers are spending more time on their devices, which necessitates the need for comfortable accessories for typing, listening, and video calling. Logitech has launched a wide range of product lines that cater to these needs, and we anticipate continued adoption and appreciation from our Indian consumers. We remain committed to introducing new product lines that meet the evolving needs of our customers.
