A Decent, If Unspectacular, Start

The film added Rs 2.85 crore on its second day, witnessing a 30 percent jump from the opening day, taking its two-day total to Rs 5 crore gross — a decent number, though better growth was possible. Based on current trends, the movie is heading to close its first weekend around Rs 8 crore gross.

Riding Hollywood’s India Wave

The sci-fi thriller should aim for a strong weekday hold and close its total run somewhere around Rs 20-25 crore in India — a solid number for a Hollywood original with no existing IP, relying purely on Spielberg’s brand value.

Hollywood films are enjoying a winning streak in India this year, with back-to-back successes including Project Hail Mary, The Mummy, Michael, The Devil Weds Prada 2, and Obsession, and the newly released Spielberg directorial is expected to join this list. The film is also performing better than Backrooms, which released in the same weekend.
