Dhadak 2 Release Date Confirmed: Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri’s Intense Love Story Arrives This Year

After a prolonged tussle with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), Dhadak 2 has finally secured a theatrical release. Starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri in lead roles, the film’s emotionally charged narrative was initially scheduled to hit cinemas in November 2024.

However, following months of delay due to certification challenges, the Dhadak 2 release date is now officially set for August 1, 2025. The announcement marks a new chapter for the franchise, promising a fresh yet tragic love story filled with resistance, pain, and passion.

New Posters Set the Tone

On May 26, the makers unveiled a set of compelling posters alongside the revised Dhadak 2 release date. The visuals feature Siddhant and Triptii in a fierce embrace, capturing the anguish and emotional intensity of the film. The caption accompanying the announcement reads:

“मरने और लड़ने में से एक को चुनना हो… तो लड़ना। #Dhadak2 आ रही है सभी सिनेमाघरों में – 1st August 2025.”

This poetic line sets the emotional and thematic tone of the narrative — a love that doesn’t fade but chooses to fight.

Censorship Hurdles: What Caused the Delay?

The delay in the Dhadak 2 release date stemmed from the film’s initial rejection by the CBFC, which demanded multiple changes before granting approval. According to a report by The Hindu, the film was eventually cleared after implementing 16 edits.

These changes included:

• Rephrasing a politically suggestive dialogue to avoid referencing real-life public figures.
• Removing caste-based language and altering religious references.
• Replacing a Tulsidas doha with a more universally symbolic verse.
• Rewriting a dialogue about power to a softer, metaphorical expression of dominance.

These modifications reflect the ongoing balancing act filmmakers face between creative freedom and regulatory compliance.

Creative Team Behind the Project

Directed by Shazia Iqbal, Dhadak 2 introduces a new voice in mainstream cinema. The film is produced by Karan Johar, Umesh Kumar Bansal, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Meenu Aroraa, Somen Mishra, and Pragati Deshmukh — a diverse group of producers ensuring a high-production-value cinematic experience.

The screenplay and dialogues, crafted by Rahul Badwelkar in collaboration with Iqbal, aim to capture raw human emotions while navigating contemporary socio-political landscapes. Presented by Zee Studios, Dharma Productions, and Cloud 9 Pictures, the film is positioned for a wide national release.

From Sairat to Dhadak to a New Chapter

While the original Dhadak was a remake of the critically acclaimed Marathi film Sairat, the sequel ventures into original storytelling territory. The 2018 release served as the launchpad for Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter, bringing rural love stories into mainstream conversation. In contrast, Dhadak 2 is expected to delve deeper into emotional conflicts and class-based divisions, drawing from real-life socio-political themes.

With Siddhant Chaturvedi known for his gritty performance in Gully Boy and Triptii Dimri earning praise for her intense roles in Qala and Bulbbul, this pairing brings depth and maturity to the franchise.
