Chelsea news: Christensen, Silva new contract; Pulisic update and new centre-back rumours

Chelsea’s defensive record has been tidied up since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel at the club. The German is now the first manager in the Premier League to have kept five clean sheets in his first five home games, shutting out Wolves, Burnley, Everton, Manchester United and Newcastle United.

Andreas Christensen has also enjoyed a revitalised role in the team and has taken the chance given to him well. His performances at this point in time are almost incomparable to those at the beginning of the season. Chelsea, in turn, are planning to offer the Dane an extension on his current deal.

Thiago Silva is also in line for an extension, with the veteran also being an essential part of Chelsea’s all-round defensive improvement this season. However, the Blues are still in the market for a new centre-back. Bayern Munich’s Niklas Sule and Jerome Boateng are the names being linked with the club, alongside Ibrahima Konate of RB Leipzig.

But speaking on the topic on the Here We Go podcast, Fabrizio Romano said that the number one target for Chelsea is Jose Jimenez from Atletico Madrid. His current club’s stance is that potential suitors must pay the release clause or forget about signing the player. The release clause is a whopping €120 million, which is valid this season as well.

Chelsea will decide whether to pursue the Madrid defender together with Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season. Elsewhere at Chelsea, Christian Pulisic is currently out of the Chelsea starting lineup and has been since the appointment of Thomas Tuchel. While this can also be attributed to his recurring injury problems, it must be kept in mind that he is appreciated by Tuchel.

Currently, there is no problem and the player has decided to wait and be patient with the new manager. But If continues like this he will be forced to ask to leave the club. Nothing concrete has been achieved yet, and we must also consider the fact that Tuchel is still trying things out with the Blues on the pitch.
