Kamal Haasan fans may not have to wait long for news. Reports suggest his next film with director SU Arun Kumar could be titled Sandiyar, with the first look arriving around his 72nd birthday. Here’s what’s rumored, and what’s confirmed.

Note: this is based on a report from Valai Pechu, and the makers have not confirmed the title or any other details.

What the Report Says?

The film is reportedly a gritty, full-on action entertainer.
A photoshoot has reportedly wrapped.
Stills and a first-look poster are expected on Kamal Haasan’s birthday.
Shooting is expected to begin in November.

Kamal Haasan: Rumor Snapshot

Detail	Status
Director	SU Arun Kumar (Veera Dheera Sooran)
Rumored title	Sandiyar (unconfirmed)
Genre	Gritty action
Location	Entire film reportedly shot in Madurai
Kamal’s look	Short hair, no CGI de-aging, no dance sequences
Female lead	Reportedly a middle-aged actress
Start of filming	Expected November

Why Madurai?

The film is said to be shot entirely in Madurai, because Kamal Haasan wants a rooted, realistic feel. Paired with the no-CGI and no-dance approach, that suggests a raw, grounded action drama, quite different from his recent big-canvas projects.

What Happened to KH237?

Kamal was initially expected to work with the Anbariv duo on the tentatively titled KH237, reportedly written by Syam Pushkaran with music by Jakes Bejoy. The makers haven’t shared any further updates on that project.

Kamal Haasan’s Packed Lineup

Thug Life: his latest lead role, directed by Mani Ratnam and now streaming on Netflix.
KHxRK: a Nelson Dilipkumar action film reuniting him with Rajinikanth after four decades.
Kalki 2: alongside Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan.
Indian 3: the vigilante sequel from Shankar, reportedly eyeing Summer 2027.

Conclusion

Everything here is rumor for now, so treat the title as a maybe. Still, the details fit together nicely: a realistic setting, a stripped-back look and a veteran actress opposite him. After years of heavy VFX, a grounded Kamal action film could be a refreshing change. Keep an eye on his birthday for confirmation.
