As is the norm for smartwatches, it can connect to your smartphone using an app. Boult have their own dedicated app to connect the smartwatch with, in order to change faces, set up your physical details and access features such as calling, remote camera, or even find my phone.
They also allow you to keep extensive track of your exercise data, including the age-old step counter and activity monitor. The watch also features an SpO2 and heart rate measurer, which you can use to keep track of your vitals.
The watch syncs fairly well with the changes you make through the phone. It also features the remote calling facility, which may come in handy if you’re keeping your phone in a backpack or are in a crowd.
Build Quality and Design
The face of the watch is fairly durable and is made of zinc alloy. The crown has a decent feel to it as well, and it would be a great watch to wear – if you could replace the band.
Although it might seem appealing to some people based on the pictures, the connected-cylindrical shape of the band is quite uncomfortable to wear for long periods. You might feel your hand getting a bit heavy after only a few hours, which acts as a downside.
Replacing the band seems like a plausible solution, but you shouldn’t really have to change a silicon band on a smartwatch right after buying it brand new.
The display doesn’t really stand out, with a 1.95″ screen and a resolution of 240 x 283. The brightness is on the impressive side, going up to 900 nits which makes it easy to see even under the sun.
The UI can be swapped around, but still feels a bit generic as smartwatches in even lower price ranges have a similar interface, albeit minus some of the newer features.
Charging and Battery Backup
It takes around one hour to fully charge, which is quite impressive – and runs for around 4-5 days before requiring another charge. Regardless of how active of a user you are, the battery shouldn’t be an issue for you even if you use it quite actively.
Features and Functionalities
The remote dial feature has to be the best part about the watch. You also get the standard activity monitoring, Sp02, heart rate, blood pressure and menstrual cycle tracker. The watch also features 100+ sports modes, allows you to capture photos remotely and also allows you to change music on your phone if it is connected to Bluetooth.
You can also read your messages, set a stopwatch, or play games such as Flappy Bird on the watch.
Sleep activity can also be tracked, with additional information available through the app. Lastly, you also get a breathing trainer and a voice assistant, which can help you voice activate the smartwatch.
Verdict: Is Boult Crown Worth It?
In all honesty, you get exactly what you’d expect with the Boult Crown smartwatch. Priced at around Rs 1,499, you get a sturdy watch that can do the basics remarkably well and doesn’t cause issues even when used in humid environments.
With most good-to-have features at such a price range, it might have some flaws but for the premium look and feel, it’s worth going for it. So, if you’re looking for a budget-friendly smartwatch that you can depend on, the Crown is the way to go.
