Portronics Trifusion Review: A 16W Speaker, Wireless Charger, and Mood Light for Just Rs. 1,599

I’ve had the Portronics Trifusion sitting on my desk for a couple of weeks now, switching between using it as a daily speaker, a bedside charger, and honestly, just as a lamp when I wanted some ambient lighting while working late. At Rs. 1,599, it’s trying to be four devices in one — and for the most part, it pulls that off better than I expected.

Portronics Trifusion: What You’re Getting

The Trifusion packs a 16W speaker (dual 40mm drivers with built-in subwoofers), a 15W wireless charging pad on top, a digital alarm clock with a clear display, 360° RGB ambient lighting, and a phone stand — all wrapped in a compact, fabric-finished cylindrical body that looks a lot more premium than its price tag suggests. It also throws in USB, AUX-in, and TF card playback, plus TWS pairing if you want to link two units for stereo sound.

Sound Quality: The Highlight

This is where the Trifusion genuinely surprised me. The bass is punchy and full-bodied for a speaker this size — the dual subwoofers actually do work rather than being a marketing checkbox, and mids and highs stay clear even when you push the volume up. For casual desk listening, background music while working, or filling a bedroom with sound, it’s more than capable. I wouldn’t call it audiophile-grade, but for the price, the sound signature punches well above its weight class.

The Mood Lighting Actually Adds Something

I’ll admit I went in expecting the RGB lighting to be a gimmick, but it’s turned into one of my favorite parts of using this thing daily. The 360° light show syncs reasonably well with music and cycles through modes that genuinely shift the vibe of a room — warm and dim for winding down, punchier colors if you’re using it more like a party speaker. It’s a small touch, but it’s executed well enough that it doesn’t feel tacked on.

The Clock Works Exactly As Advertised

The digital alarm clock does what it says — clean display, easy to set, no fuss. As a bedside companion it earns its keep here: you get a speaker, a charger, a clock, and a night light all replacing what would otherwise be three or four separate gadgets cluttering your nightstand.

Where It Falls Short: Wireless Charging

Here’s my main gripe, and it’s a real one. The 15W wireless charging pad is the Trifusion’s most ambitious feature, but also its weakest link. If you plug the speaker into a proper fast charger, wireless charging works as promised. Problem is, if you’re running it off anything underpowered — or worse, just running the speaker on battery without an adapter connected — the wireless charging pad will drain the Trifusion’s own battery fast enough to defeat the purpose entirely. Portronics themselves recommend at least an 18W adapter for the wireless charging to perform properly, and in my experience that’s not a suggestion, it’s a requirement. Skip it, and you’ll find your speaker needing a recharge far sooner than you’d expect.

It’s not a dealbreaker, but it does mean the “wireless charging” pitch comes with an asterisk: keep it plugged into a capable charger, or don’t rely on it as your go-to phone charging spot.

Verdict

The Portronics Trifusion isn’t a perfectly executed product — the wireless charging implementation needed a bit more thought, and you’ll want to keep it tethered to a good adapter if you plan to use that feature regularly. But step back and look at what you’re actually paying for: a speaker with real bass, a mood light that people will ask about, a working alarm clock, and a wireless charger that does function when set up right — all for Rs. 1,599. For a bedside or desk multi-tool at this price, it delivers a lot more than the number on the price tag suggests it should.
