What Season 2 Is About?

When we last saw Mizu, she was sailing for London to hunt the two remaining men who might be her father. Season 2 picks up there. According to Netflix’s official logline, she faces new friends, old foes and her own demons in London. Back in Japan, Akemi and Taigen navigate Edo Castle under a dangerous new Shogun, while Ringo searches for a new purpose.

New Voices Joining the Cast

Season 2 adds a few notable names. Jonathan Pryce voices Old Violet, Joel Kim Booster plays Priest Ando, and Sherry Cola voices Kuma. They join returning cast members, with Maya Erskine back as Mizu.

The team showed the season’s development work at a recent LightBox Expo panel. No official recording exists, so these details come from attendee notes and should be treated as unofficial.

A built London: The team reportedly built eight miles of set for camera work, with one upper-class street and two lower-class streets fully fleshed out. Lower-class streets were made deliberately “wonky” to avoid the straight lines common in CGI.
Mizu’s identity: Mizu expects to fit in in London, but she won’t be seen as belonging there either. The season explores how she turns the shame of being an outcast into strength.
New fights: Mizu faces new fighting styles, with period bear-fighting dens mentioned.
History with limits: Green reportedly said the team does the research so it knows when it is purposely doing something wrong, adding that they aren’t making a documentary.

How Long Is the Wait for Season 3?

Not nearly as long. Netflix has already renewed the show for a third and final season, slated for 2028. According to the panel notes, Mizu’s story ends there, though the creators hope to make spin-offs.
