OnePlus will be launching cheaper smartphones in India first

The Chinese smartphone giant OnePlus who has a wide global presence for its quality smartphones has a huge fanbase in India itself. It’s flagship killer smartphones have been well received in a budget-centric country like India over the years.

Its recent OnePlus 8 series has been discounted in India than other global variants, still they are in the slight premium segment of smartphones in terms of pricing. OnePlus India has been valued by its fans and in a non-5G country like in India, 5G based costlier OnePlus smartphones aren’t that much convincing for an average Indian.

Most of Indian customers go for Rs.10k-Rs.15k price segment and there’s no denial of the fact that there’s a huge demand for smartphones below Rs.10k as well. While there a number of people who are willing to pay more for better specs like the Rs.20k-30k price segment where recently Xiaomi, Samsung and others are focussing these days.

OnePlus smartphones previously came in the Rs.30-Rs.40k segment, an ideal pricing for ones who need flagship specs at affordable price point. That’s why, OnePlus made a huge impact in India and even challenged in smartphone sales to Samsung in the premium segment as well.

In his recent Weibo post, Pete Lau, the co-founder and CEO of OnePlus, shared his plans to diversify its product lineup. He also told how it’s becoming impossible to keep up with the pricing with 5G in a rapidly competitive industry, so they’ll also be offering cheaper smartphones, hinting for a new launch.

OnePlus will be launching cheaper smartphones in India first

In an interview granted Fast Company, the CEO, speaking through an interpreter, is reported to have hinted that the BBK subsidiary is planning to get back to making more affordable phones and also expand into new product categories.

Even though he never disclosed what product he focuses to launch but he did make himself clear that their new strategy will arrive soon, with an announcement for India. This could be a hint to launch the rumoured OnePlus 8 Z in India soon with some other products as well.

“We indeed have come from background and roots as a hardware company, but from what we see looking forward, building an ecosystem is a forward trend”

Pete Lau

When most smartphone companies are expanding their portfolio by launching TVs, accessories, power banks, Bluetooth headsets and much more, OnePlus is trying to build an ecosystem of connected devices.

So, more smart devices, budget smartphones is what Lau is trying to suggest before an actual official announcement is done. It’s great to see India being the centre of attraction as well.

Rumour: AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT, Ryzen 7 3700XT and Ryzen 9 3900XT leaked

0

When all AMD fans are eagerly waiting for Ryzen 4000 desktop processors, a user over on the Chiphell forums has posted some interesting facts about AMD’s upcoming Matisse refreshed processors. We’ve already seen a bunch of AMD Ryzen 4000 Renoir desktop processors so spotting these CPUs aren’t that much surprising.

Considering what Intel has been doing the past a few years now, AMD seems to be following the same path as well. The user posted the clock speeds of the rumoured Ryzen 9 3900XT, Ryzen 7 3800XT, and Ryzen 5 3600XT processors.

As per the user, the 12-core Ryzen 9 3900XT will be featuring a 4.1 GHz base clock and a higher boost clock speed 4.8 GHz. This is actually 300 MHz higher from the base clock and 200 Mhz higher from the boost clock of the current Ryzen 9 3900X.

AMD Ryzen 9 3950X defeats Intel's server chips & Core i9-9980XE in PassMark

While the rumoured 8-core Ryzen 7 3800XT will have a 4.2 GHz base clock and a higher boost clock speed 4.7 GHz, this is significantly higher than the current Ryzen 7 3800X with 3.9 GHz base and 4.5 GHz boost clock speed.

On the other hand, the Ryzen 5 3600XT will feature a 4.0 GHz base clock and a higher boost clock speed 4.7 GHz which is actually 200 MHz higher in terms of base clock speed and 300 MHz higher in boost clock speed. If AMD has done so then it follows a pattern in increasing clock frequencies.

We know how capable this Zen 2 architecture is and if these CPUs do actually come in existence then this can blow off Intel who is touting its high clock speeds with its recent 10th gen Comet Lake-S desktop processors. This can be a good move in utilizing its existing architecture and crippling Intel with higher clock speeds.

Also, this can be a move to actually lure gamers away from Intel, who is focusing on gaming primarily. For now, these Matisse refresh is just rumour but it may become true who knows? we might see these CPUs along with Renoir desktop APUs launched soon to maintain the desktop market supremacy which AMD is used since for quite some time now.

OnePlus plans diversify its product lineup by launching new devices

0

In the short while of its establishment, OnePlus has made a reputation in the electronics for its quality products including smartphones, accessories and Smart TVs. Recently, Pete Lau, the co-founder and CEO of OnePlus has shared OnePlus’s plans to diversify its product lineup on Weibo.

Not completely specifying what they are up to, Pete Lau posted on Weibo using the same cryptic teasing words which he is used to writing on OnePlus Community before any new OnePlus launches. This is quite significant after months of launching the premium range of OnePlus 8 series smartphones.

OnePlus plans diversify its product lineup by launching new devices

As per his post, OnePlus wants to diversify its product lineup, suggesting new products in various sectors which its other fellow Chinese companies like Xiaomi are familiar with. So more smartphones in the lower price bracket and Smart TVs or any new product can be expected sooner.

This also hints the existence or the imminent launch of the leaked OnePlus 8 Z or something other in the low-budget segment. Having said that, one thing that Lau did stress on is the brand’s vision to make quality products to offer a no-go experience.

Interestingly, he clarified the fact that these new products will first debut in the global markets, where OnePlus has grown significantly in the past few years, followed by China when feasible.
