Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing the Ajax starlet Donny van de Beek

Real Madrid have now dropped their interest in Paul Pogba and are on the verge of signing Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek.

According to Marca, Real Madrid have reached an agreement with Van de Beek over a move to the Santiago Bernabeu. But the report also says that Madrid’s move for Van de Beek would not close the door for Pogba.

Pogba himself is open to joining Real Madrid, but Manchester United will not compromise on their €180m asking price for the midfielder. The price tag has put Real Madrid off, who are now set to sign the 22-year-old Netherlands international.

Van de Beek

Donny van de Beek told FOX Sports: “Of course I hear stuff like that from time to time. It’s always good to hear, right? But in fact the situation is still the same, even though the media keep telling new stories.
Of course there is interest, but people tend to go way too fast.”

On reportedly being a back-up option in case Madrid miss out on Pogba, he said: “I haven’t heard it being said that way, but it could be. You shouldn’t believe everything you read. There’s always a lot of nonsense. I don’t have to tell you what is true and what isn’t.
I’m focusing on [the match against Vitesse on] Saturday and the rest is up to you guys.”

Ajax coach Ten Hag acknowledged it will be difficult to hold on to Van de Beek if Real Madrid step up their interest. He said: “Of course we don’t want to lose him, so he have to do all we can to keep him here. But when clubs like that come around the corner, it will be very tough.
We did very well last year, so you know players will be wanted. We’re a small football country. It’s just how it works. How important is Donny for us? That’s obvious. He had a mega development. He is extremely important.”

Van de Beek

Real Madrid are said to have been keeping tabs on the 22-year-old all summer after the starring role he played in Ajax’s run to the Champions League semi-finals last season and winning the Dutch League.

Van De Beek could be available for as little as €50-60m. He doesn’t quite have the star quality of Pogba just yet, but Van de Beek looks a very tidy player who could well be the final piece of the puzzle for Zidane at the end of what has been a very exciting summer of transfer business.

According to widespread reports, Donny van de Beek – who will sign a five or six-year deal – is reportedly set to join Real Madrid for €50m which presents impressive value.

Barcelona have signed Real Betis defender Junior Firpo

Barcelona and Real Betis have now finally reached an agreement over the transfer fee of Junior Firpo.

Junior has emerged as one of the most exciting full-backs over the last two seasons and will provide legitimate competition to Jordi Alba. He enjoyed a breakthrough season with Betis in 2018-19, having broken into the first team for the Andalusian club late in the previous campaign.

Firpo costs Barcelona around €30m. The La Liga champions will pay an initial €18 million to sign the 22-year-old and could spend another €12 million in add-ons as part of the deal.

The Spain international was typically deployed as a wing-back on the left flank for Betis and his surges into attacking areas became a trademark of the Betis’s attacking play. Firpo has all the attributes expected from a modern-day wing-back. When he does venture into the final third he’s composed in his decision making, while his high energy levels allow him to dominate his side of the field.

Ceballos and Firpo

Firpo ran riot down the left flank in a memorable 4-3 win at the Camp Nou last season. One of his standout performance in the previous campaign actually came against Barcelona.

Jordi Alba is still one of the best left-backs in the game and his telepathic link up with Lionel Messi is so often key to unlocking opposition defences.

Firpo

However, at the age of 30, it’s imperative that manager Ernesto Valverde has another player who can provide competition to the Spaniard and possess a similar penetrative threat. He can also cover in central areas.

Firpo has been chased by Barcelona all summer. The 22-year-old has reportedly signed a five-year contract with LaLiga champions.

Manchester United have finally agreed a world-record fee for Leicester City defender Harry Maguire

Manchester United and Leicester City have agreed a deal for the transfer of Harry Maguire for a reported £80m – a world record fee for a defender.

Harry Maguire is expected to complete a medical at Manchester United by this weekend. He will become United’s third summer signing following Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James, who arrived from Crystal Palace and Swansea respectively.

Leicester City manager Brendan Rogers said a fee has been agreed with Manchester United for the sale of Harry Maguire, but the player is yet to negotiate personal terms with the Red Devils. He told Sky Sports: “The clubs have agreed [a fee] and there’s still some work for it to go through. There’s still a bit to go in terms of Harry’s medical and whatever personal things to sort out, but it is what it is.
He’s a special player, he’s not a player that of course we would want to lose. He’s a top-class player, he’s a good man as well, and everything about Harry over the course of this pre-season, he knows there has been interest over the summer and he’s been super professional.”

Maguire and Rashford

The 20-time English champions have been chasing the centre-back for this entire summer window, having called off plans to bring him to the club 12 months earlier. But the boyhood United fan indicated some weeks ago that he was flattered by the club’s interest in him.

If the deal goes ahead, which is highly unlikely to go off, the transfer fee will represent a world-record fee for a defender which is currently held by Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk – Liverpool paid Southampton £75m ($91m) for the Netherlands defender back in January 2018. This transfer will also stand at 12th position in the most expensive transfers of all-time list.
Hull City are also set to get £10.2m of the fee with a 15 percent sell-on clause on profits from when they sold Maguire to Leicester.

Maguire

Harry Maguire’s football career

Maguire began his career at Sheffield United in 2011, making 139 league appearances for the Blades before joining Hull in 2014. He was part of the Hull side that earned promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs in 2016.
But he left for Leicester in a £17m deal following the Tigers’ relegation 12 months later. He then made 69 Premier League appearances for Leicester.
The defender made his England debut in August 2017 and was part of the side that reached the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Harry Maguire becomes one of seven central defenders on the books at United, joining Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo and Axel Tuanzebe.

Google to ditch Intel Xeons for their servers, AMD EPYC Rome CPUs in rescue

0

Intel is already losing its grounds to AMD after the Red team’s launch of Ryzen 3000 series CPUs in the desktop CPU market and now this is coming to the server platforms.

Among the top IT companies, Google is one of the biggest and uses a lot of computational resources to operate its various products and services. So the hardware behind all this needs to be strong and flawless.

Google and all other major IT companies still use Intel Xeons chips that are based on the 14nm architecture and is way old which indeed makes it much more vulnerable to hackers. Also, the Intel chips are getting way more expensive even though bearing the same architecture.

Google to ditch Intel Xeons for their servers, AMD EPYC Rome CPUs in rescue

On the other hand, AMD’s Zen 2 architecture based on 7nm process is a huge deal especially considering the price at which they are offering the CPUs as well as maintaining great performance.

Already we have major companies like Amazon shifting their servers to AMD platform and now it seems Google is also looking to adopt AMD technology. The new server ends AMD EPYC Rome CPUs with up to 64 cores 128 threads already tops the performance chart.

Google is planning big this year with the launch of Google Stadia whose hardware is powered by Intel Xeons and AMD Radeon Vega graphics. Now, shredding off the costly Xeon platform with the cheaper and effective AMD Server CPUs would be the right decision for them.

Already the world’s fastest Super Computer is going to be built using Zen 2 architecture and AMD deserves to be bragged about it. Costing up to $10K these CPUs provide immense performance compared to the costly Intel counterparts.

According to Lynx Equity analysts, Google seems to ditch the Xeon chips which they used for their Data Centers and Servers in the coming days. This will be a huge deal for AMD and with this lead, we can expect more and more data-centric companies shifting their grounds to AMD.

Google to ditch Intel Xeons for their servers, AMD EPYC Rome CPUs in rescue

Well, Google might not totally shift to AMD as for now but yes they can test on some of their systems. The main advantage of using these CPUs is the cost, Intel claims their Cascade Lake-AP chip packing 56 cores can give comparable performance to AMD’s but they cost around $40-50K which is almost 4-5 times the price of AMD.

With multiple-socket systems, server-end platforms can leverage more than 200 cores and 400 threads which is a pretty big deal. AMD is also on track with its next-gen Milan and Genoa server-end CPUs which is important if Intel finally leverages 10nm Ice Lake CPUs next year.

As for now, this seems to be a rumour and the validity of it will be judged in the coming days.

Barcelona have agreed to sell Malcom to Zenit St Petersburg

Barcelona forward Malcolm looks set to join Zenit St Petersburg after the two clubs have agreed on a €40m fee.

Malcom has endured a torrid 12 months at Camp Nou after joining from Bordeaux last season. He turned his back on what was thought to be a cast-iron move to Roma. But things haven’t worked for the 22-year-old, who scored just one goal in 15 LaLiga appearances

Arsenal were also linked with Malcom. But they instead signed Nicolas Pepe from Lille.
Now Sky Sports Italia have confirmed that Malcom will go to Russia.

The 22-year-old still has much of his career ahead of him and his talent has been evident in the past, most notably during his final season at Bordeaux.

Malcom

According to many reports, Zenit’s sporting director, Javier Ribalta, flew to Spain and has now agreed a deal to sign the formerly highly coveted forward. And a deal has been struck between Barçelona and Zenit, with the South American forward joining for €40m plus €5m in bonuses.

Malcolm will become one of eight South Americans at the club that is captained by ex-Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.

It would take a massive effort from another club to take this transfer away from the five-time Russian champions, which is very unlikely.

Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford wants to be “the ultimate forward”

Rashford is being pigeonholed as an out-and-out striker, but he wants to be “the ultimate forward”.

Marcus Rashford was on target in pre-season friendlies against Perth Glory and Leeds United earlier in July but has not scored in three appearances since. Rashford said that it is should be a team effort upfront and believes that if his side are to be successful this season, goals will need to come from a variety of sources.

Rashford told reporters: “It’s never been my aim to be a No.9. It’s about being able to adapt and play in different positions and to be the ultimate forward. I think I can score goals from all positions and I think that’s something that’s shared among the forwards. That’s important.
If one person is scoring all the goals, you get a different feeling as a team than if all the forwards are contributing. It’s definitely a good feeling and it keeps us all on our toes.”

Rashford

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have started the pre-season very well. They have won all of their pre-season friendlies.

Rashford added: “We’ve still got a lot of work to do, but we’re improving in training every day. It feels like the team is improving, which is the most important thing. We’re concentrating on ourselves and keep trying to take steps forward.
I can still sharpen up a bit more. That’s normal. It’s more about wanting to get the right amount of workload in. Fitness has improved and the patterns of play we’ve been working on are starting to come out in the games. That’s the important thing.”
