MS Dhoni is striking the ball really well: CSK CEO

There is less than one month left before the start of the biggest T-20 cricket league, IPL 2020. Every team is at the peak of their training. At this very moment, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan told media that Thala (MS Dhoni) was at full charge and hit some huge sixes during the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) training sessions that concluded at Chennai on Thursday. He hit those sixes in every corner of the park and some were too big, even traveling beyond the stands.

CEO also added to media that Dhoni was, as usual, sharp and confident. He was as calm and relaxed as before, timing the ball really well, and hitting sixes into the stands.

“Dhoni is striking the ball very well. And there were plenty of sixes in all directions. Dhoni was his usual self, relaxed, confident, and happy,” Viswanathan said.

According to the CEO, the team (CSK) itself had no idea about the retirement of MS Dhoni at all. They were so shocked and surprised after hearing the news from that Instagram post. They were equally shocked about the retirement of Suresh Raina too.

“The boys had not trained for a long time and this was good for them. Coming after a break, they did not stretch themselves fully. That could have led to injuries. But the cricketers gradually found their rhythm,” the CSK CEO added.

Earlier there were five days of training camp of CSK in India. The team will leave for UAE for this year’s IPL on Friday afternoon. After reaching the UAE, there will be six days of quarantine for the team. After that, the team can start further training sessions. Viswanathan was also very pleased and satisfied with the performance of other players of the team. He added that Murali Vijay and Ruturaj Gaekwad were striking the ball really well in the camp. Net bowler, paceman Aswin Crist was equally impressive in that training session.

Former Barcelona striker Henrik Larsson joins Koeman’s backroom team

0

Recently, Barcelona has fired Quique Setien and a lot of people to start a ‘new project’ after the humiliating loss against Bayern Munich. The Cantabrian was replaced by the former Barca legend Ronald Koeman who is appointed by Bartomeu to restructure the team and get back the winning days at Camp Nou and also finally achieve their lost Champions League crown.

Already, the club has appointed the Dutch Alfred Schreuder as the assistant coach and now they’ve brought their former Swedish striker Henrik Larsson to join Koeman’s backroom team. He has returned to the club almost after 13 years, now, appointed as an assistant coach to the new boss Ronald Koeman.

Former Barcelona striker Henrik Larsson joins Koeman's backroom team

The former Barca striker has now signed a two-year deal to be a part of Koeman’s coaching staff. Both have collaborated earlier as well, at Eredivisie side Feyenoord between 1995 and 1997 during the Dutchman’s end of the career, however, both have the experience in a Barca shirt and knows how important it is to win games.

The 48-year-old has been out of football for a year or so having left his managerial post at Swedish side Helsingborgs because of social media abuse. Larsson, as a player, joined Barcelona on a free transfer from Celtic in June 2004 and went on to win two La Liga titles and he shared the Champions League trophy with Ronaldinho, scoring 22 goals in 62 games.

It will be interesting to see how along with the Dutchman Alfred Schreuder and Henrik Larsson, Koeman changes the team and the tactics to revive the team. Also, in this financial crisis, this will be a challenge for Koeman and his coaching staff to rebuild this group and make new signings as well.

Ronald Koeman wants to make five or six signings for the upcoming season

0

The newly-appointed Dutch coach has his intentions clear at Barcelona and wants to succeed at the Camp Nou as a manager, however, the situations are quite bad at Barcelona this time – Messi is broken down, Bartomeu is still the president, new technical secretary, old players at the club eating up wages, financial instability and more problems to solve than actually make.

In this kind of scenario, using youth players and making new signings can help Barca a lot but you have to balance the wage bills by bidding farewell to some of the senior players, and Bartomeu has indirectly pointed them as well. In an interview with the Dutch channel ‘Zigoo TV,’ he did give some more details of his new plans as a coach.

Ronald Koeman wants to make five or six signings for the upcoming season

As MD points out, Koeman plans to make his project for Barça explaining the fact that he wants to keep Leo Messi as the key man. He has also made it clear that he only wants players “who want to be here”, and we know the Dutchman is firm in his decisions, so it will be interesting to see how he changes the team and shape things up.

He is also aware of the limitations he will have due to the economic circumstances caused by the coronavirus pandemic, but he does not renounce having a competitive Barça. “The big clubs are suffering incredible losses, so it will not be very easy to get five, six new players right away,” Ronald commented in this interview with Zigoo TV.

Although he intends to bring new reinforcements to the club that will obviously have to be accompanied by several exits from the squad, Koeman has also made himself clear that he is committed to the people of the house.

“We will also include young people,” he said, with which he makes clear that the promising youth plyer like Riqui Puig, Ansu Fati, Trincao, or Pedri will be getting their opportunities to be important with the Dutch coach. However, the situation is very crucial for Barcelona and all eyes will be upon what’s coming in the days to come before the season starts.

He said: “For me, it’s a dream come true. Playing in the Champions League and making it to the final. It’s everything you can ask for.”

“Paris are a good team. For now, we celebrate a little bit but afterwards, we focus on the next game. It’s going to be a good game, there’s going to be goals in it. This is what you dream of as a footballer – playing against the best in Europe.”
