Kingston Technology leads Channel SSD shipments in 2019

Mumbai, India – April 21, 2020: Kingston Digital, Inc., the Flash memory affiliate of Kingston Technology Company, Inc., a world leader in memory products and technology solutions, today announced its SSD business continues to grow at a strong rate following an astounding 2019. SSD demand through Q1 2020 remained high due to continued growth in the client, enterprise and OEM sectors. Since 2019, Kingston has broadened its SSD portfolio with three new client SSDs, five data centre-specific drives ― two of which achieved VMware Ready™ status ― and launched its first U.2 NVMe PCIe solution.

Market share data for 2019 from analyst research companies Forward Insights and TRENDFOCUS showed Kingston in a strong leadership position. Forward Insights ranked Kingston in first place in worldwide channel SSD shipments with 18.3% market share, ahead of semiconductor manufacturers Western Digital and Samsung (16.5% and 15.1%, respectively). According to forwarding Insights, almost 120 million SSDs were shipped in the channel in 2019.

“Demand in the channel remained very high as overall shipments increased 36 percent from 2018,” said Gregory Wong, president and principal analyst, Forward Insights. “Kingston’s competitive product portfolio and extensive distribution enabled it to outgrow the market by a factor of two.”

TRENDFOCUS placed Kingston as the third-largest supplier of SSDs globally, with 10.4 percent market share, behind Samsung and Western Digital. In 2019, TRENDFOCUS reported that 276 million SSDs were shipped worldwide, an increase of 36 percent year over year. NAND consumption remained high as SSD shipments continued to surge in both units and average capacities throughout the year.

Favorable pricing for a good portion of 2019 helped drive demand in the client space, enabling increased SSD-attach rates from the OEMs,” said Don Jeanette, vice president, TRENDFOCUS. “Moving forward through the rest of 2020, SSD-attach rates in PCs will remain strong, with continued strong demand for SATA SSD in various data center deployments, as well as continued increases with Hyperscale buildouts for PCIe.”

“The 2019 research findings from both analyst firms validate Kingston’s growing presence and position in the SSD market,” said Ariel Perez, SSD business manager, Kingston. “We continue to solidify our presence in the client space with strong SATA offerings as well as distinct NVMe solutions optimized for notebooks and desktops. In addition to the growth in OEM and partner manufacturing, we are proud to deliver several new enterprise solutions with predictable performance and greater dependability for a variety of applications and host environments.”

While we are waiting for the upcoming flagship from POCO, we came to know about a new smartphone alleged to be POCO M2 Pro. This phone is said to be a mid-range device that will feature Snapdragon 720G SoC. Reports claim that the name of the smartphone appeared io Xiaomi’s official website but now it has been taken down. The data showed a result of its SAR testing.

The model number of the phone is spotted as M2003J6CI and code named as “gram”. Though the retail name is not fixed yet but the model number hints to an extent. According to GSMArena “there’s a firmware ready for the “gram” and has also appeared in a kernel source code for the Redmi Note 9 Pro and a watermark in the default camera app for the “gram” has also been found”.

Reports also claim that Xiaomi is working on the POCO M2 Pro may be related to the Redmi Note 9 Pro. Both may also shame most of the features which means that the phone will feature Snapdragon 720G or may come with similar SoC with compatible software.

POCO is organising a global launch event on May 12 where the company will launch the upcoming flagship of the brand and may also launch this mid-range device at the same time.

Germany legend Miroslav Klose has been appointed as the new assistant to Bayern Munich head coach Hansi Flick

Miroslav Klose is a legend of German football. He has inspired a whole generation of strikers. He won the 2014 World Cup for Germany. He has also reached the finals of the 2002 World Cup and Euro 2008.

Klose is the leading goalscorer in World Cup finals history with 16 goals. He won the Golden Shoe at the 2006 World Cup, which was hosted by Germany.

Klose played four years at Bayern Munich. During his time at the Allianz Arena, he has won two Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal doubles. He retired in 2016.

He has signed a one-year contract and will move into the role from 1st July. He will be an assistant to head coach Hansi Flick. He has been coaching Bayern Munich’s under-17 side for the last two years and has now finally stepped into the first team role.

After a lot of rumours and leaks finally, the much anticipated Microsoft Surface Go 2 makes its way to the public. Surprisingly, as per the assumptions from our previous articles, Microsoft has gone with two variants this time.

The company has also launched the Surface Book 3 and Surface Headphones 2. Microsoft has upgraded the new Surface Go totally in terms of both hardware and design front.

As we guessed in the leaks, the Surface Go 2 comes with a bigger 10.5-inch PixelSense display with 10-point multi-touch support and with a 3:2 aspect ratio. To keep the costs low and to keep the availability for a wider audience, Microsoft has made two variants, one powered by the Pentium Gold 4425Y processor and the other by the Intel Core m3-8100Y processor.

The base model with the Pentium CPU comes with a cheaper 64 GB of eMMC flash storage and 4 GB of RAM. Obviously, if you require more performance you can opt-in for the Intel Core m3-8100Y powered variant that can be configured with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 128GB of SSD storage.

The Core m3-8100Y model promises to give 64% faster performance than the original Surface Go, according to Microsoft. For the camera, we have an 8MP rear camera which is able to record 1080p FULL HD videos and a 5MP front camera as well. The Surface Go 2 also promises to offer you up to 10 hours of battery life on a single charge.

The Surface Go 2 comes included with the Surface Pen and you can buy the other accessories separately like Type Covers, Sleeves with colour options like Platinum, Black, Poppy Red, and Ice Blue. Also, the existing Surface Go Type Covers are compatible with the new model as well.

The Microsoft Surface Go 2 will be available in market from May 12th, 2020 in certain markets with these configurations:

We all know Xiaomi, being a smartphone manufacturing company mainly, also produces plenty of other products. The list includes TVs, earphones, trimers, bags, shoes, cameras, and more. A new product has just joined the list and it’s a multipurpose foldable fan.

As this is a Xiaomi product, innovation must be there. Among the specialties I already mentioned one earlier, it’s foldable. Despite having a height of 93.5cm, you can convert it into a 14.1cm height cake by folding it. This reduces the space to keep it and makes easier to carry. Folding this fan is not a hard job. You need to only follow three steps instructed by the manufacturer.

This fan comes with a one-piece design. That means you will not find any screw in it. To get the indoor air circulated fully, you can move the head around 120° from left to right. It can also be moved around 360° up and down.

Besides being a fan, it is also a humidifier as well as a purifier. The humidification is done by its bottom part. It can release 1 to 5 nm small water drops with the help of “3000rpm cross-flow wind pressure technology”. This feature is very much helpful to maintain moisture indoor.

Lastly, this fan is wireless. There is a remote to control it from a distance of the utmost 80 meters. The most interesting thing is this remote is magnetically attracted by the fan so that you can’t lose it frequently.
