Google has been offering its GO variants for most of its popular apps. We have a Youtube Go with us which most of us I am sure of. But do you know that we will now have ourselves a Gmail Go as well? Google made its new app available on Play Store for users to download and it did so without any prior information or notice.
But the recent report which came today claims that Google Go is no longer available on the play store as the Android maker had previously uploaded the app by accident.
The authorities were quick enough to correct their error and it seems that the new app is no longer available for non-Android Go devices.
The non-android go devices now get the warning that their device stating that their device is not compatible with this version.
The difference we found is that the app icon on the google go has a red “go” badge at the bottom. The app, however, is visually identical to its normal counter-part which is available for ages.
It’s worth noting that the Google Meet has not been integrated into the Google Meet as it is in the normal Gmail app. No layering is provided in the Gmail Go, and it also has no shadow. Instead, the Gmail Go uses a white outline for its search field, and an elongated compose FAB, that will shrink into a circle as the users scroll.
The new Gmail Go has been presumably optimized for the performance of the devices with a limited processor and RAM.
The list of Go family apps available on the play store includes Google Go, Gallery Go, Google Maps Go, and Navigation Go. Along with Assistant Go and YouTube Go though these two are only supported for limited devices.
The inclusion of Gmail Go was not a necessary update. However, it is good to see google offering choices for its users.
Eric Garcia was linked with FC Barcelona throughout the transfer window. But FC Barcelona failed to sign the Spanish defender in this window. There were multiple speculations with this failed transfer. But finally, Manchester City chief Omar Berrada cleared all the doubts in an interview.
Omar said, “He’s become a top young centre-back who Pep trust, and we feel that keeping him this season was worth more than what we were offered for him. We believe that he can add depth to the squad, and can be important in important games.”
“This is a season that is going to be very difficult for the players, physically and mentally. It’s very congested, there will be a lot of pressure to play many games both in terms of club competitions but all the international games that they have to play, so it is all very concentrated and congested.”
“We had a conversation with Barcelona about Eric Garcia. We were very clear what we felt his valuation was-they weren’t able or were willing to meet it, so our decision was to keep him. We think he’ll be important for us.”
Eric Garcia is a product of La Masia. He joined the Manchester City youth academy in 2017. He was promoted to the first team in 2018 and made his senior team debut in the EFL Cup quarter-final in 2018 against Leicester City.
The 19-year-old defender has become a regular starter after Aymeric Laporte suffered a serious knee injury last season.
Although Eric Garcia wanted to return to his boyhood club, FC Barcelona failed to sign him as they cannot match the asking price of Manchester City.
Will Barcelona go again for their target in January again? Time will tell.
IPL 2020 is almost halfway through and the points table is as dramatic as it can get. The teams who entered the tournament as heavy favourites have struggled and one of them is the three-times champion, Chennai Super Kings.
Super Kings have surprisingly lost five of their seven matches! It is safe to say that CSK is in amidst of a do or die situation. They will have to win six of their remaining seven matches or at least five with a healthy run-rate and wait for the cards to fall in the right places. Super Kings have always qualified for the playoffs in their 12-year history of the IPL. Clearly, there’s a strong chance of this particular streak being ended.
CSK has been facing some troubles even before the tournament had started. The COVID-19 pandemic tailored the CSK camp as 13 of their staff including two players were tested positive. This unfortunate incident was followed by two of their veterans Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh withdrawing from the tournament.
Coach Stephen Fleming clearly frustrated!
However, despite having some really good alternative options, the side is clearly struggling. Frustrated head coach Stephen Fleming opened about the issues holding the franchise back.
“If we don’t get a good start at the top with our two overseas players, we’re falling into a hole. So we’re looking for positive solutions. What I’d like is a little bit more intensity through the middle overs. We’ve got plenty of batting, and while we’re recovering pretty well, we are just ending up with too much to do at the back”, he said at a press conference.
(PC- New Indian Express)
Fleming also agreed with the fact that the side is an ageing team with the highest average age of 30.5 years among all the IPL teams.
“If you look at a couple of other factors, this one is an ageing team. Also, the conditions…the spinners at this stage are playing a small role but still not playing the substantial role we are used to. We are looking for ways to compete and change the style of play, given we have been so consistent with our selections. We are certainly scrapping…trying to find a way, it is a bit foreign and the results are showing,” Fleming admitted.
CSK should have an eye on the ‘Mid-season transfer‘ which will allow them to have players from other teams, provided they should have not played more than two matches for their current team. Commentator Harsha Bhogle suggested CSK should target Delhi Capitals’ Ajinkya Rahane. They can also consider players like Chris Lynn, Tom Banton, Saurabh Tiwary, etc.
The Coronavirus pandemic has wreaked havoc in the whole world. All the sporting activities were suspended since March. It has now resumed but the matches are taking place behind closed doors with no signs of when the fans can be allowed once again.
This has put all the clubs in a huge financial crisis as they are losing out on their primary revenue, the daily matchday ticket sales. The Spanish top-flight is no different.
LaLiga president Javier Tebas has predicted that the health crisis will turn into an economic crisis, as reported by Marca.
Tebas stressed on the only upside during this period. He said: “At the audiovisual level we have tripled the value of the audience.”
Tebas commented on the difficulties they had last season due to COVID: “Last season it was easier to finish the championship since UEFA had suspended the Champions League, but now we will not do it, then it will be more difficult. LaLiga is much more attentive now to what is happening than at the end of last season. “
To avoid the stoppage of the competition, LaLiga is currently carrying out two specific containment plans, Tebas has explained each of them: “The first strategy was to take care of the sports field, but also of the entire sector. If the matches were not played, dozens of jobs would be at stake. The second strategy is the so-called bubble. Each player has their own protocols to follow. This every time they return from a trip must be checked through tests. It is the only way to avoid the contagion within that bubble we live in. It is very important that no one enters that bubble since the locker room is the most dangerous place at the level of contagion. “
In the event that the competition had to be suspended, eradicate in that the problem will transfer from health to economic levels: “We would be very sorry if it stops once again because otherwise, we would go from a health problem to an economic crisis, which it’s just as dangerous. We’ve managed to fix it a bit. “
When the dust settled, the Los Angeles Lakers were the ones left standing. The team from the City of Angels has gotten their hands on the Championship after a decade long wait, taking their tally up to 17.
The game was decided in the sixth match of the best of seven series as Lakers outscored Miami Heat 106-93, snatching away the game and the NBA title in the process.

With their 17th championship delivered, LA Lakers have tied the record for the most NBA Championships with that of Boston Celtics.
The last time the Lakers won the Championship was all the way back in 2010, with the late, great Kobe Bryant leading the side to their 16th.
Miami Heat failed to assert their dominance on the Lakers, as they pushed the series into 6 games and managed to snatch the title away from the Florida-based team.
Lebron James led the offense for Lakers, scoring 28 points, setting up 14 and racking up 14 boards in the process. It was a team effort that led the Lakers to their title, as James was well supplemented on the court by Anthony Davis, Rajon Rondo and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
The victory now sees James secure the NBA title with a third different franchise. James managed to rack up his 28th triple-double in the match as well, only 2 behind Magic Johnson and his record of 30 post-season triple-doubles.
To add to the wonderful day for the world-class athlete, James was named the MVP of the NBA finals.
A journey that saw them vanquish Portland, Houston and Denver, all 4-1 saw them achieve a 4-2 victory in the finals, although, with no spectators to celebrate the victory with on the stands, one can be sure that Lakers fans are absolutely thrilled with their team’s performances on the court.
The problems are increasing day by day for Manchester United. Last week after a heavy defeat against Tottenham, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was criticized by Patrice Evra as Ole made Harry Maguire the club captain after joining United just last summer.
Manchester has started this season with a defeat against Crystal Palace at home by 3-1. They won against Brighton after a very late penalty scored by Bruno Fernandes. But they lost again at home against Tottenham by 6-1.
After the match against Tottenham, multiple reports suggest that the Manchester United board has contacted ex Tottenham manager Pochettino as a potential replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took charge in December 2018 after a disastrous start of the season. Ole made history after a brilliant comeback against Paris from a 2-0 deficit at home. Last season he also finished 3rd in the league. He also brought his team to all three cup semi-finals they played last season.
After a decent season, it was astonishing to see Ole’s job is at stake. But Manchester United has a recent past of changing managers frequently. After 23 years of tenure of Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United has had 4 managers in the last 7 years.
After Sir Alex retired in 2013, present West Ham United manager David Moyes took charge. But he was sacked within the first 8 months of his spell. After that Luis Van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, and at last Ole Gunnar Solskjaer became the manager. But everyone failed to make Manchester United best again.
As per reports, Ole has just one month in his hand. If he fails to deliver then he will be replaced by Pochettino.
Let’s see what happens in this one month. Manchester United will face Newcastle United next Saturday in the Premier League.
Paul Pogba has always been keen on Real Madrid, publicly appreciating the club on multiple occasions, saying it would “be a dream” to play for them for years on end now.
In the transfer windows gone by, Real Madrid have tried approaching Manchester United for the star midfielder as well, but have found it difficult to match United’s £100 million+ evaluation of the Frenchman.
But that hasn’t stopped Pogba and Zidane from commenting on each other and ponder about the possibility of working together at the Bernabeu.
According to the latest reports, Real are willing to add Pogba to their ranks if the World Cup winner agrees to take a pay cut.
Currently, Pogba earns a handsome fee of £290,000 per week, which amounts to £15 million a year. Although it is well known that Real Madrid can match the weekly wages of the 27-year-old, they have asked Mino Raiola to make arrangements for a reduction in salary if Pogba is to ever play for Madrid.
Real’s reluctance to offer the high wages of the player can be understood following the situation with Gareth Bale and the way that it turned out.
Zidane has not been holding out for a transfer for Pogba, and already has his own stacked set of star midfielders, boasting the likes of Kroos, Casemiro, Modric, Fede Valverde and Isco.
Though Real Madrid are currently not interested in Pogba’s services, Spanish publication Marca indicates that Real would only sign the midfielder for free, at the end of his current contract.
However, Manchester United have the option of extending Pogba’s contract by a year, which they are sure to do given that Pogba is one of their most prized assets and they would do anything to not lose him for free.
On the other side of things, Pogba has not been in the best of form in recent times and it is debatable whether he would even make the starting lineup at Real, given the competition at the Bernabeu.
All that said, it does seem likely that Mino Raiola will bring Pogba to the Bernabeu someday, when that happens is a question that can only be answered in the months to come.
Reports surfaced yesterday that Liverpool and Manchester United were in talks to help out the clubs in the lower leagues, for a significant compensation in their status as one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League, with a boost in the voting powers vested in them.
The proposed plan, first covered by The Telegraph suggests that a sum of £250 million will be given to the FA to financially help out the clubs suffering from a financial crisis in the lower leagues.

In addition, a sum of £100 million would be given to the Women’s Premier League so that a women’s league independent of the FA and the Premier League could be established.
Among the other changes proposed in the plans include the reduction of the Premier League teams from 20 to 18, which would see two teams from the third tier pushed out into non-league territory.

The League Cup, originally proposed to be written off, was later proposed to be held for teams that did not qualify for Europe, which seems like a brilliant idea in isolation.
Now, all the things mentioned above seem acceptable and even reasonable to a degree.
However, here is where things get complicated and slightly megalomaniacal.
The big six would be rewarded with a boost in voting powers, as talked about earlier, which would see only six of the big six, along with Everton, Southampton and West Ham needing to agree on something to make it a rule, or to make a change.

In addition, a fee cap of £20 would be applied for away fans attending a game. On top of that, the Championship playoff system would be modified to include the 16th placed team in the 18-team-PL fighting for their place in the playoffs with teams from the Championship, which doesn’t seem like too bad an idea.
The Premier League’s take
The proposed change could have made the six big clubs overly powerful in England.
However, the Premier League came out later in the day and declined the proposed change by Liverpool and Manchester United to the system.
The Premier League urges football's stakeholders to work together for the good of the game
Quoting the statement released by the League on their website:
“We have seen media reports today regarding a plan to restructure football in this country.”
“English football is the world’s most-watched, and has a vibrant, dynamic and competitive league structure that drives interest around the globe.”
“To maintain this position, it is important that we all work together.”
“Both the Premier League and The FA support a wide-ranging discussion on the future of the game, including its competition structures, calendar and overall financing particularly in light of the effects of COVID-19.”
“Football has many stakeholders, therefore this work should be carried out through the proper channels enabling all clubs and stakeholders the opportunity to contribute.”
“In the Premier League’s view, a number of the individual proposals in the plan published today could have a damaging impact on the whole game and we are disappointed to see that Rick Parry, Chair of the EFL, has given his on-the-record support.”
“The Premier League has been working in good faith with its clubs and the EFL to seek a resolution to the requirement for COVID-19 rescue funding.”
