40 containers of RTX 3090 has been stolen from a factory in China

0

Can you get an RTX 3090 this holiday season?

It has been reported that, from a Chinese MSI factory, 40 containers of Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 have been stolen, which costs the company a mammoth amount. The thieves are going to cash in with the next-gen expensive graphics card.

The GeForce RTX 3090 is a fine GPU with TITAN class performance. The card is based on NVIDIA’s 2nd gen RTX architecture. This GPU is not made for average gamers; it basically has been targeted at 8K gaming, professionals, and researchers.

It is estimated that the loss is around $330,000 (nearly £255,000 or AU$460,000). MSI has informed the police and declared a 100,000 Yuan ($15,000) reward for anyone who can give useful information about the theft. The incident took place on the 7th of December. In those boxes, there was around 220 total number of Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090s. The graphics card costs around $1,500, but due to less stock availability and high demand, many auction sites have sold the card for $2,000.

MSI suspects that the job is done by or with any insider because the whole shipping area of the factory is covered by video surveillance, and all the delivery trucks are routinely checked. After posting the reward regarding the missing cards, now MSI has promised leniency with anyone who will be found involved in the theft that comes forward with the missing stock.

This incident should not affect the market of RTX 3090. Anyone who wants to have an RTX 3090 can buy it but, you might have to wait because of its low initial stock.

Bill Gates praises India’s Digital Finance approach

0

Microsoft Corporation co-founder Bill Gates has lauded India’s policies for financial innovation and inclusion. The tech pioneer has said that his philanthropic foundation is working with other countries to introduce open-source technologies based on its implementation.

Gates talked about India’s policies that have lowered the cost and friction of distributing aid to the poor, especially during the pandemic. The ambitious platforms India has created for universal identification and digital payments, also taking into account the world’s largest biometric database and a system for sending rupees between any bank or smartphone app, is commendable.

“If people are going to study one country right now, other than China, I’d say they should look at India,” Gates said at the Singapore Fintech Festival on Tuesday, as reported by Bloomberg. “Things are really exploding there, and innovation around that system is phenomenal.”

The demonetization brought into effect by the Indian government in November 2016, validating most of the country’s high-value banknotes in a move to curb corruption and push Indians away from cash, paved the way for Indian digital payments to take off. The Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has been helped by booming smartphone use and wireless data rates in India that are among the lowest globally.

India mandates that companies like Facebook Inc., Amazon.com Inc., Walmart Inc., Paytm, and any new upstart to use its UPI platform so payments can be sent easily among all services with zero user fees also being a requirement.

India’s biometric system that is called ‘Aadhaar’ which is “foundation” in Hindi — has raised privacy concerns among the citizens of the country because it can also be used for government surveillance of citizens. Prime Minister Of India Narendra Modi opposed the system before his party came to power, but has since embraced it. Countries Including Morocco, Bangladesh, and Russia have expressed interest in the approach.

Gates, overall, was optimistic about how quickly vaccines are being prepared to address the Covid-19 pandemic but warned against complacency.

“We can’t forget that another pandemic will come, so we need to invest and be ready,” he said. “Digital things overall — remote learning, telemedicine, digital finance — were greatly advanced. So even though the pandemic has been terrible, it has pushed some of these innovations, including how quickly we make vaccines.”

Oppo files a patent for a smartphone with a detachable camera module

We are in the middle of some exciting technological revolution. Yesterday, we reported how Samsung is thinking to bring ‘foldable’ smartphones to attract customers. Today, the reports suggest that Oppo is coming with an innovation of their own. They have filed for a patent which surfaced online. The patent suggests that the Chinese OEM might be thinking to launch smartphones with an astonishing detachable camera module.

This detachable camera module will help you to place it a few feet away. Then, your smartphone will be to operate as a remote control to click pictures or record videos. This can be done via the already-installed camera app on the smartphone. Imagine, how useful a fully detachable camera can be while capturing images remotely.

Source: OPPO/WIPO

Oppo is already known for quite a few innovations. The Oppo N1 launched back in 2013 came with a rotating camera module. Later, Oppo N3 arrived in the market with a more advanced motorized camera hub. Asus, the Taiwanese multinational company, tried to launch similar smartphones with the Asus ZenFone 6 and Asus ZenFone 7 Pro.

As this new design involves the separation of the camera from the main smartphone body, the camera module has a battery pack of its own. This separate battery makes the camera to operate when it is not with the smartphone body. The camera module comes with a USB connector. This connector can be plug into the smartphone’s USB port. Thus, giving an option to take a selfie and do video calls. Another feature of this USB plug is that it can be bend 90-degree. This helps in avoiding any hindrance from the connector when the camera module is put back.

Let’s not forget that they have filed for just a patent. That means this is very much in the initial concept phase. This detachable camera might not become a reality eventually but what we can infer is that Oppo is looking at new ways to disrupt the smartphone market. This is very important for any company to survive in today’s competitive market.

OFFICIAL: AIFF announced the 2020-21 Hero I-League fixture

The complete fixture of Hero I-League is finally announced by AIFF yesterday. The league will start on 9th January. Mohammedan Sporting Club and debutant club Sudeva Delhi FC will face each other in the inaugural match of the 2020-21 season. The match will start at 2 pm in Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Stadium.

Just like Hero Indian Super League, Hero I-League will also be played behind the closed door at three different venues – Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Stadium, Kalyani Municipal Stadium, and Kishore Bharati Krirangan.

All 11 teams will be playing against each other in a double round-robin format. Today AIFF declared the final schedule for the first 10 rounds. The first 10 rounds of matches will be played till February 24. The matches will be telecasted on 1Sports and streamed live on social media/OTT.

CEO of AIFF Leagues, Sunando Dhar said, “We are about to experience a new version of the Hero I-League this time as all the teams will be operating from within the bubble. It will indeed be a unique experience for all the players, coaches, and officials involved.”

“Of course, we would have loved to have had fans in the stands, but due to the current circumstances, that would not be possible. I just want to convey to all the fans that we will all be there for each other in spirit. I wish all the teams the best ahead of the tournament.”-he added.

Last season the league was stopped abruptly because of the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. Mohun Bagan AC had been crowned champions. This season the two heavyweights of I-League, East Bengal and Mohun Bagan have both joined Indian Super League. So it will be interesting to see which team comes out on top of the I-League.

Mesut Ozil set to join Fenerbahce in January

For football fans all across the world, Mesut Ozil is one of the most polarising figures in the recent history of the sport. Some see him as an underappreciated creative genius, while the other, a more critical group of football fans see him as simply overrated.

In either case, it must be considered that Ozil has been playing at the highest level for the last decade, and is undeniably talented on his day on the pitch.

Recent times have been unkind towards the 2010 World Cup winner. He has now been frozen out of the squad in all major competitions and has been written off from the Premier League and Europa League squads by Mikel Arteta altogether.

According to the recent updates, Fenerbahce is the club that is supposed to be the next destination for Ozil. All that said, he will have to take a pay cut if he hopes to be signed by the Turkish club.

Ozil is currently on £350,000 a week and does nothing to help the squad out on matchdays. He isn’t even eligible to make up the numbers on the bench anymore.

Arsenal fans have been wondering as of late whether the decision made by Arteta to leave out Ozil from the matchday squad was a wise one or not.

The argument not in favour of the cause rises mainly from the recent lack of attacking direction that Arsenal have been facing in recent weeks. The Gunners are quite literally in the midst of a goal drought and can barely put a foot right while going forward.

Only this time, Aubameyang is also failing to step up and help the club out. Reports regarding Ozil’s move to Fenerbahce further go on to state that it could happen in January. Moreover, it is about 90% sure to happen according to the club chief himself.
