Boston Celtics reportedly hire NBA veteran Evan Turner as their new assistant coach

0

Veteran forward Evan Turner will continue his career in NBA as an assistant coach rather than a player. According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, he is finalizing a deal to join the Boston Celtics as an assistant coach. He is expected to focus on player development in his role in Boston.

Turner has played for six different franchises in his 10-year long career in the league. He started in Philadelphia with the 76ers after they made him the second overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft. He played as a Sixer for four seasons before being traded to the Indiana Pacers, where he played just half of a season. Then, he went on to suit up for the Boston Celtics from 2014 to 2016. He also played for the Portland Trail Blazers from 2016 to 2019, Atlanta Hawks from 2019 to 2020 and Minnesota Timberwolves in 2020.

Over the duration of his career, he appeared in 705 regular-season games and averaged 9.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists each game. He also appeared in 63 playoff games and averaged 7.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists during those games.

The 32-year-old was an unrestricted free agent this offseason, and earlier in the year he made it clear that he was looking to continue his career as a player.

In July, via Sports Illustrated, Turner said, “The physical part is all here.” “I’m smooth. I took this time to try and let my body heal up from some nagging injuries that never felt good. The coronavirus brought everything to a halt, but you use lemons to make lemonade and keep situations beneficial. I have grown and gained a lot of positives during this time. I’m looking forward to next season and getting back to a winning team.”

While Turner will not be continuing his career as a player, he will at least be getting back to a winning team as the Boston Celtics made it to the Eastern Conference finals last season, and face high expectations in the upcoming season.

India finally registered a win in the Third ODI against the Aussies

0

India finally managed a win against Australia in the Third ODI to avoid a series whitewash.

Australia had already clinched the ODI series win by 2-1 but India has finally managed a win by 13 runs in the third ODI to avoid a whitewash in the series.

With India winning the toss at Manuka Oval, Virat Kohli elects to bat first with some changes in the playing 11 with T. Natarajan doing his international debut, Shubman Gill, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav in place of Mayank Aggarwal, Navdeep Saini, Mohammed Shami and Yuzvendra Chahal.

Source – Times Of India

Shubman Gill Opened for the first time in a three-match ODI along with Shikhar Dhawan. Virat Kohli seemed consistent with a contribution of 63 runs off 78 balls.

Virat Kohli has also broken the record of being the fastest cricketer to score 12,000 ODI runs. The record held by the legend, Sachin Tendulkar earlier. Kohli broke the record in his just 242nd innings with a single off in Sean Abott’s ball in the 13th over.

With a huge contribution of Hardik Pandya scoring 92 runs off 76 balls and Ravindra Jadeja scoring 66 runs off 50 balls which helped India to increase the total run chase. Adding to that the bowling lineup performing much better than earlier with Shardul Thakur picking up Steve Smith, Sean Abbott, and Moises Henriques’s wicket, T. Natarajan taking his first international wicket of Marnus Labuschagne and Ashton Agar and Kuldeep Yadav with Cameron Green’s wicket.

This is what Virat Kohli, India Skipper said after the match: “We were put under the pump in the first and second half of Australia’s innings. Look I think the pitch was much better here in terms of helping the bowlers and that’s why I think the bowlers did well here. We were clinical with the ball and in the field. Hopefully, we take the momentum forward. I would have liked to go on for a bit longer, but it was a great partnership between Pandya and Jadeja. The team needed that kind of a boost. You need those kinds of moments, especially when you play against a team like Australia.”

This win definitely pumped up India’s confidence for the upcoming T20 Series against Australia as this match has provided a space for the potential players to come up with an agreeable strategy.

Sony warn Indians against importing PlayStation 5

0

Sony has launched its next-gen gaming console, PlayStation 5 back on November 12th in the global market and releases it by a wider range on the 19th. But still, there is no official news about the launch in the Indian market. Obviously, when a huge percentage of PS fans are getting access, the Indian fans are way far from that. So, they choose to import the new PlayStation 5.

To do that, Indians are accessing the grey market. On top of that, they are paying unreasonable prices. As per the reports, the amount reaches close to INR 90,000 from a single unit, which is around double in comparison to the global market price. Though the prices of the Indian variants are not revealed yet, converting the global price, it comes around INR 29,400 for the Digital Edition and INR 36,800 for the regular edition.

Sony, on the entire scenario, commented that all the imported units will not come under the official Sony warranty. No doubt, it’s a warning for all the Indian PS5 fans who already imported it or are under process.

According to a report by India Today, a Sony PlayStation representative said to MensXP, “We advise our customers to check for the official Sony India Warranty card at the time of purchase to avail warranty benefits within India and in this context, it is important to note that PlayStation products marketed by Sony India are certified based on India safety standards stipulated by BIS,”

Lionel Messi has been fined €600 for his tribute to Diego Maradona

0

Arguably the greatest ever player to grace the football field, Diego Maradona passed away on 25th November. It will be remembered as one of the black days of world football. The whole fraternity was mourning the great loss.

Barcelona played Osasuna on the following weekend where they won comfortably by a 4-0 scoreline. The highlight of the match came in the 73rd minute when Lionel Messi scored a goal and opened his shirt to reveal a Newell’s shirt with number 10 written on it as a tribute to Maradona.

Newell’s Old Boys was the last club Maradona played for before hanging up his football boots. The Argentine club was also the first place where Messi started playing football before signing for Barcelona.

But match referee, Mateu Lahoz, had no option other than showing Messi a yellow card for removing his Barcelona shirt. He wrote in the match report: “In minute 73 the player (10) Messi Cuccittini, Lionel Andres was booked for the following reason.”

“For removing his shirt, after scoring a goal, showing a new shirt of the Newell’s Old Boys team, from the 93/94 season, with the number 10 on the back.”

This means that Messi’s tribute to Maradona has now been officially recorded in the Spanish football history.

According to a report, the Competition Committee has issued a warning to Messi as well as fined him €600 for infraction of article 91 of the Disciplinary Code. The fine levied is quite marginal as it could have gone up to €3,000.

Barcelona have also been fined €350 in accordance with article 52 of the Disciplinary Code. The Catalan club is expected to appeal the sanction before the Competition Committee in the coming days.
