SC East Bengal lodged a complaint against refereeing in ISL

After the defeat in the first 3 matches, SC East Bengal were finally able to secure their first point against Jamshedpur FC in a 0-0 draw. But that match has also raised some questions on some decisions made by the referee. Unfortunately, there were some decisions that were gone against SC East Bengal.

After the match against NorthEast United FC, Fowler asked to introduce VAR in ISL as his team was denied two ‘clear penalty’ in that match. This time they officially lodged a complaint against refereeing in ISL.

SC East Bengal midfielder Eugeneson Lyngdoh was sent off at the 25th minute following a challenge on Aitor Monroy in which the player made contact with the ball first.

After the game SC East Bengal boss Robbie Fowler complaint that they have played against 12 men in the field.

Fowler said, “I don’t think any decision was going our way. Everyone does seem to be against us. We just had to go out there and defend like the way we can and don’t concede and it was important for us to get the point.”

“We have suffered in the last three matches so after yesterday’s match we have shared our feedback with AIFF, Hopefully, it will be taken into consideration to enhance the quality of referee to maintain the spirit of the game during the remainder of the tournament.”

“This is a process that is available to every club where they can share feedback about the officials with the federation.”

SC East Bengal will face Hyderabad FC on Tuesday in their next game.

Google and Apple’s contact tracing app does not deliver expected results in California

0

Recently California launched the COVID-19 contact tracing app this week. And both the companies are quite optimistic about the new feature and claim that it is the future technology. However, things are not as the tech giants expected them to be. One thing to remember is that it is still impossible to measure technology’s effectiveness in tracing the viral transmission of COVID-19. Hence, there were only a few people who downloaded the app upon its release.

“It seems to me that it’s incumbent upon those who are behind these efforts to show evidence that they’re having some effect. So far, I’ve personally been unconvinced that there’s been any significant showing of efficacy. I’ve personally been unconvinced that there’s been any significant showing of efficacy,” stated Ryan Calo, a law professor and a director of the Tech Policy Lab at the University of Washington.

But people forget that manual contact tracing is extremely hard. The process of manual tracing is complicated, and it becomes too late to determine all the potential contacts of someone who has tested positive. However, digital contact tracing also has its problems. It depends on lots of people downloading the app. And that problem is precisely what Google and Apple are facing right now with their contact tracing service.

Google and Apple already made a big point of prioritizing privacy and security when developing the apps. They already announced that none of the information collected by the app is identifiable. Still, it is a gamble because if the amount of data they collect is reduced, it becomes challenging to evaluate how these exposure notification programs work.

It is still a debate as to whether the technology will be useful in tracking down the viral infections. But still, people need to understand that the thing which works faster in terms of crisis needs to be implemented as early as possible.

What happened in the tech world recently?

This month we saw a wide range of products entering the market. As such, there was a lot of news to cover the latest technology. But what seems to have made a considerable impact on the tech world seems to be Apple’s latest M1 chipset and snapdragons new 888 processor. Not to mention the antitrust lawsuits against Facebook put forward by the Federal Trade Commission and 48 state attorneys general has shaken the entire silicon valley.

Apple’s AirPods Max is undeniably one of the costly sound solution available in the market. While Qualcomm’s new flagship processor, the Snapdragon 888, could very well push the potential of 5G. At the same time, Apple’s M1 processor is creating ripples in the semiconductor market.

“One of the great things about the M1, the way we look at it, we’re super happy with that announcement. Very happy. And kudos to Apple because it validates our belief. It validates our beliefs that you know, that the mobile user is defining what they expect out of the PC experience. And when adding Apple to that conversation, you started to see that the ecosystem is moving. Great example: I believe it was probably this week, if not the week before, that Adobe announced many applications that are all ARM native. And once you make it ARM native, performance increases as you now have app compatibility.”

The main issue is that though Apple’s M1chipsets are extremely well-performing, the company is still working on getting developers to port their software onto its new platform. Speaking of a new platform, Apple is reportedly working on making its cellular modem.

Overall, apart from Snapdragon 888 being launched by Qualcomm, I guess the crown of innovating and launching some serious products this month goes to Apple. However, it will be quite interesting to see how all these innovations produce results.

MediaTek again shows an increased November revenue

0

The Taiwanese silicon giant is on a spree to make some money with its budget to mid-range chips found on most phones these days. Gone are the days of Qualcomm’s dominance as MediaTek’s Dimensity chips are very impressive and are being used by almost all major smartphone manufacturers like Oppo, Xiaomi, LG, Realme and others.

The company has reported consolidated revenue of NT$33.54 billion (or US$1.19 billion) for November 2020. This is a 10.2% sequential spike in revenue along with a 62.7% increase year over year, as reported by Digitimes. Its cumulative 2020 revenue throughout November rose 29.3% from a year earlier to NT$289.72 billion.

Although it couldn’t touch the record $1.32 billion revenue figure in September, still very impressive. Its Q4 2020 revenue also seems to match the market predictions and this momentum should be kept ongoing with strong demand for 5G chips even on budget devices these days.

MediaTek even expects almost US$10 billion revenue figure in 2020 despite the pandemic and all the miseries we faced this year, thanks to its chips for various use cases like IoT, smartphones, communications, modems and even smart home applications.

VAIO laptops to return in the market, Flipkart teases its video

0

Indian online retailer Flipkart has posted a teaser video regarding a return of a prominent laptop brand, Vaio. Like seriously, we are hearing this “Vaio” name after a long time. Back in 2014, Sony used to sell its Vaio laptops. But, days after days, it has lost its customers due to several issues, such as excessive amounts of bloatwares in it as well as those Vaio laptops were priced much higher than that of other laptop brands. For all these reasons, Vaio had to say “Good Bye” from the market.

Now almost after six years, at the end of 2020, we’ve witnessed a teaser video on Flipkart regarding this laptop brand. The Flipkart teaser reads “Lighter than your past”. So, basically, this video is teasing about the return of some older brand laptops and interestingly, this video is based on the era that Vaio stopped making laptops. That’s why we can expect the return of Vaio.

“IN JANUARY, THE BRAND WILL OFFICIALLY UNVEIL HER FIRST AMD MODEL TOGETHER WITH ANOTHER MODEL SPECIALLY DESIGN FOR THE MODERN OFFICE AND START SELLING FROM ONE OF THE LEADING E-COMMERCE PORTAL – FLIPKART, THEN TO FURTHER EXTEND TO OTHER MAJOR RETAIL CHANNELS.” – SEEMA BHATNAGAR, REGIONAL BUSINESS DIRECTOR FOR SOUTH ASIA, RSD, NEXSTGO.

We can expect those upcoming Vaio laptops in several markets, such as in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Macau, Middle East, and India. It is not the first time we are hearing something new about Vaio as back in 2017, Vaio was about to launch Vaio Phone A. But unfortunately, it had no chance of getting noticed.
