Strategic 5G Expansion Across India

Vi’s Kolkata launch is part of an ambitious 17-city rollout strategy. The telecom giant has already activated 5G services across major metropolitan areas including Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Bangalore, Pune, Chennai, and Ahmedabad. This systematic approach demonstrates Vi’s commitment to providing reliable telecommunications infrastructure nationwide.

Technology Behind the Speed

The partnership with Nokia brings cutting-edge, energy-efficient infrastructure to Kolkata. Vi’s implementation of AI-powered Self-Organizing Networks (SON) automatically optimizes network performance, ensuring consistent speeds and coverage across the city.

Affordable 5G Access

Vi’s introductory pricing strategy makes 5G accessible to a broader user base. With unlimited 5G data available on plans starting from just ₹299, the company is positioning itself competitively in India’s rapidly evolving 5G marketplace.

Enhanced Indoor Coverage

Beyond 5G, Vi has strengthened its 4G backbone by deploying 900 MHz spectrum across thousands of sites. This upgrade significantly improves indoor coverage – a critical factor for urban environments like Kolkata where building density can impact signal strength.

What’s Next for West Bengal?

Sovan Mukherjee, Business Head for the region, emphasized Vi’s commitment to systematically expanding their 5G footprint across West Bengal. This expansion aligns with growing demand and increasing 5G handset adoption across the state.

The Bottom Line

With competitive pricing, robust infrastructure, and strategic partnerships, Vi is positioning itself as a serious contender in India’s 5G race.
