Happy Birthday Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar: The unknown story of two legends

0

From the streets of Mogi Das Cruzes, Brazil, and Madeira, Portugal they have ruled the world with a football in their feet. One is Neymar Jr, and the other one is Cristiano Ronaldo.

Neymar Jr

5th February 1992 in Mogi Das Cruzes in Brazil Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior was born. From childhood, he started his career as a futsal player. He learned fast Brazilian football while playing street football.

Former Santos FC legend Lima first heard about Neymar when he was just 13 years old. He saw him play in a futsal game and he was amazed. He then informed the Santos FC youth team coach Zito about the potential of Neymar. The future was changed since then.

Neymar joined Santos Youth Academy in 2003. There he developed as one of the best players in the world. He was promoted to the first team in 2009. He made his international debut in 2010.

His skills, vision, passing, and most importantly, the ability of scoring goals make him one of the best players of the recent generation.

He has won many trophies and as well as many individual awards in his skill. He was in the UEFA team of the year in 2015 and 2020. He was also part of FIFA FIFPro World XI in 2015 and 2017.

Cristiano Ronaldo

On the same day, in 1985, a legend was born in Madeira, Portugal. He was the fourth and youngest child of his parents. The boy from Madeira has all affection for football since his childhood. He fights with all the odds to play football. He even fought against his teacher, who told him to stay out of football.

In 1997, he went for a 3 days trial with Sporting CP. He then joined the Sporting CP youth academy. But one year later he was diagnosed with racing heart disease, a condition that could have forced him to give up playing football. He was forced to undergo heart surgery. He had a great determination to be back in the field, and he did that quite efficiently.

Cristiano Ronaldo is arguably the best player in history. He has won the Ballon d’Or 5 times in his career. He won the FIFA Best Player Award two times as well. He was part of FIFA FIFPro World XI for a record 14 times.

He has become 36 years old today. But he is still in an excellent form and breaking records continuously. He is confident to play for some more years and is ageing like old wine.

AMD takes an oath to re-stock Radeon RX 6000 series GPUs in Q1 2021 itself

0

The Red team has launched the Radeon RX 6000 series GPUs for quite some time now but the stocks of these GPUs have been very poor. The availability of these GPUs across the globe is indeed worse than NVIDIA’s also as the RTX 30-series GPUs are still overpriced and some not available, whereas these AMD GPUs cannot be found anywhere.

Having tested the GPUs myself, I can fairly say these GPUs are the best when it comes to gaming as well as productivity. Not only in India but also across the globe the situation is similar like even if someone recommends you to buy one, you won’t be able to get.

This stock situation is said to last until the second half of 2021, however, AMD has now stated that they plan to extend production of their own reference design cards to bring in more stock in the Q1 2021 itself.

AMD takes an oath to re-stock Radeon RX 6000 series GPUs in Q1 2021 itself

The quote that has been reproduced by BabelTechReviews from an interview conducted with Ritche Corpus, who is the Gaming and Professional Software Worldwide at AMD, is as follows:

Based on the response to our AMD Radeon RX 6800 Series and Radeon RX 6900 XT reference design graphics cards, we are extending production to make them available to as many gamers as possible on AMD.com at SEP. Additional reference cards are expected to be available in the first quarter of 2021.

He also commented on to extend support to the AIB partners, helping to develop custom RX 6000 series cards. It is though unclear how AMD will soothen its partners by making its own reference GPUs or this might be the indication that they will improve the stock situation in the days to come.

Even though AMD is planning to bring more reference Radeon RX 6000 series GPUs, it will be a matter of luck to still get one as scalping will still exist. The GPU situation in the market currently is the worst one seen in few years with price hikes of as much as 30-100%, so, AMD, please resolve this!

Intel’s 4th Generation Xeon ‘Sapphire Rapids’ processors leaked

0

Sapphire Rapids has been in the air in recent times, and now we are getting more leaks. The new development of the Intel’s 4th generation Xeon processor has been the first leaked CPU images. YuuKi-AnS, a leaker, shared the first picture of the Sapphire Rapids-SP CPU based on Intel’s 10nm processor. The chip is known with a codename of ‘QVV5’ and will be used on the Eagle Stream platform.

The next-gen Sapphire Rapids chips offer quite impressive specifications. This chip would be the first chip that supports PCI Express 5.0. Besides that, it also features an onboard HBM memory card and Computes Express Link 1.1. As per expectations, it’s going to be the first architecture to support DDR5 memory, but a rumour suggests that it will support up to 8-channel memory. By the end of 2021, it looks like Intel wants to shift entirely to DDR5 on all platforms making a start with the Alder Lake platform.

The above picture of the Sapphire Rapids-SP CPU is an engineering sample with a base clock of 1.3 GHz. This chip is based on the third refinement of Intel’s 10nm process technology named 10nm Enhanced SuperFin. The leaker informed that the CPU would use four compute cores along with four HBM stacks.

The Sapphire Rapids will be used in the next-gen HPC platforms, mainly Intel’s own Aurora supercomputer. We can expect that the Aurora will be equipped with two Sapphire Rapids processors paired besides six Ponte Vecchio GPUs. At CES 2021, Intel had confirmed the development of 3rd Gen Xeon Scalable processors. All of these are still rumours, nothing is confirmed officially yet.

Elon Musk’s support for Cryptocurrencies gives rise to record Market Value in a Volatile week

0

It seems that the cryptocurrency industry is not witnessing any dull moments. In the most recent period, Elon Musk’s proclamation as a supporter for Bitcoin and his tweet about Dogecoin, together with a record runup in Ether helped take the market value of digital tokens to an all-time high.

Tesla co-founder Musk posted light-hearted tweets about Dogecoin — a Shiba Inu meme-themed unit that was created as a joke but has now turned into something to keep a track of– stirring buying that drove its market capitalization past $6 billion. On Thursday, the value of more than 6,000 tokens tracked by CoinGecko, a cryptocurrency ranking and evaluation site, was an unprecedented $1.17 trillion.

These recent developments “provide more evidence of the way the casino-like gyrations of digital coins are seeping into the mainstream.” Prominent advocates of Bitcoin like Billionaire Musk say it’s winning broader acceptance in the finance community. Regulators, meanwhile, do not want people to get complacent and are stepping up warnings of volatility that could wipe investors out.

“Investor perception is at an all-time high at both the retail and hedge fund levels,” said Jehan Chu, managing partner with blockchain advisory firm Kenetic Capital in Hong Kong, according to Bloomberg.

Even so, digital coins are still viewed by many investors as a treacherous sector. That was underlined in the U.S., where the 24-year-old founder of two New York-based cryptocurrency hedge funds (Virgil Sigma Fund and VQR Multistrategy Fund) with more than $100 million in investments, Stefan He Qin, pleaded guilty Thursday to securities fraud.

Bitcoin, the largest cryptocurrency, at about $37,400 as of 1:30 p.m. in Tokyo on Friday, is up 15% this week, while Ether has risen 26%.

Bitcoin may be strengthening before heading toward a record $50,000, which according to Mike McGlone, commodities strategist with Bloomberg Intelligence, would imply a market value for it of about $1 trillion.

Ether’s eightfold rally over the past year faces possible turbulence as the impending launch of CME Group Inc. futures next week may open the door for bearish investors. The digital coin, on Thursday, was at $1,636, down from a peak of almost $1,700.

African Union Chairperson and FIFA President discuss ongoing strong collaboration

Gianni Infantino stressed the important role that Africa plays in global football

ZURICH, Switzerland, February 5, 2021/ — Thursday, during a call that preceded the 34th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU), AU Chairperson H.E. Cyril Ramaphosa and FIFA President Gianni Infantino spoke of the positive momentum generated between both organisations in the past two years as well as the strong institutional bonds forged between the AU and FIFA for the benefit of the African people.

Reviewing the progress made since both organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding in February 2019, the two leaders discussed various topics, including plans to boost African Football with a particular focus on infrastructure (stadia, football pitches), football academies and competitions, but also on the fight against match manipulation, as well as safety and security at football matches across Africa.

The joint #SafeHome campaign from August 2020 between the AU and FIFA, with the support of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Confederation of African Football (CAF), where the four organisations addressed the important issue of domestic violence, which was exacerbated by COVID-19-related lockdowns and stay-at-home measures by launching a successful awareness-raising campaign is a further testimony of the close collaboration between the AU and FIFA. A number of Africa-based FIFA Legends supported the campaign via video awareness messages which were distributed on social and traditional media. Both the AU Chairperson and the FIFA President also recognised the opportunities that education through football can bring through the FIFA Football for Schools programme which is being coordinated globally via the FIFA Foundation.

Having visited 35 African countries in the last few years, Gianni Infantino stressed the important role that Africa plays in global football, and how that needs to be strengthened in future. This role has been supported with strong investments via the FIFA Forward programme which has already delivered close to 300 projects across the continent.

The rollout of the FIFA COVID-19 Relief Plan, supporting football across Africa during the pandemic, has also been significant and continues to play an important role to keep football alive in the continent.

Related to COVID-19, vaccination processes will also be crucial in the months ahead. In this respect, the FIFA President reiterated his support for fair access to vaccines for all, a message that he had passed to a global audience earlier this week at the WHO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, in the presence of the WHO Director-General, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

The FIFA President thanked the AU Chairperson for their continued support and assured his AU counterpart that the strong relationship forged between both organisations in the past two years will continue when Félix Tshisekedi, the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, will assume the role of African Union Chairperson for a one-year term during the aforementioned Assembly, which takes place on 6 and 7 February 2021.

Xiaomi introduced World’s first Quad-curved Waterfall Display Concept Smartphone

0

Almost 5-6 years ago we saw the curved display concept for the first time especially in a flagship series of Samsung and from then we have witnessed many smartphones with such waterfall displays. Recently we have seen the Motorola Edge with the true waterfall-display. But these displays were curved on either side of the screen. We have not seen a quad-curved display till now, which means that the screen will be curved on all four sides of the smartphone and not only on two sides.

Xiaomi is always one of the pioneers introducing new concepts of their latest and innovative innovations. This time the company has introduced the first-ever quad-curved waterfall display concept smartphone that will have curves on all four sides and the representation has been shown in the below-mentioned official tweet from the company itself.

image 6 Xiaomi introduced World's first Quad-curved Waterfall Display Concept Smartphone

Xiaomi’s new innovation will revolutionize hyper quad-curved 88-degree surface and will result in a true port-free unibody design. This upcoming smartphone will definitely be one of its kind and as the pioneer, in this segment, Xiaomi will definitely try to make it a signature device. We will witness a true port-free true full view display, seemingly to have an under-display camera for complementing the continuity and its design.

As mentioned by Xiaomi the design and model have been finalized after “countless breakthroughs in glass bending and laminating technology to extend the limits of the display to infinity.” Xiaomi also added that the port free unibody design has been built using a total of 46 different “groundbreaking” patents. Moreover, we have seen the 88 degree curved edges prior in the devices like the Huawei Mate 30 Pro.

Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana has been handed a 12-months ban by UEFA

0

Cameroon international Andre Onana has been a key player For AFC Ajax since 2016. He was one of the key members of the side which defeated Real Madrid and Juventus in their run to the Champions League semi-finals.

But unfortunately, the disciplinary body of the European football association, UEFA, has imposed a suspension of 12 months on Andre Onana for a doping violation.

In an official statement on Ajax’s website, it’s stated that: “On the morning of October 30, Onana was feeling unwell. He wanted to take a pill to ease the discomfort. Unknowingly, however, he took Lasimac, a drug that his wife had previously been prescribed. Onana’s confusion resulted in him mistakenly taking his wife’s medicine.”

It has been confirmed that Onana and Ajax will appeal against the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) as he has been handed a 12-month ban from all football competitions.

Ajax Managing director Edwin van der Sar said: “We explicitly renounce performance-enhancing drugs, we obviously stand for a clean sport. This is a terrible setback, for Andre himself but certainly also for us as a club. Andre is a top goalkeeper, who has proven his worth for Ajax for years and is very popular with the fans. We had hoped for a conditional suspension or for a suspension much shorter than these twelve months, because it was arguably not intended to strengthen his body and thus improve his performance. ”

It is a very unfortunate event for a young and budding footballer. Being banned for 12 months will have an adverse effect on him. If he has taken the medicine by mistake, he shouldn’t have been banned for a year. Maybe, CAS will overturn the judgement of UEFA.

NBA All-Star 2021: Kevin Durant and LeBron James lead respective conferences in first returns of voting

0

While the NBA is finalizing a deal to hold the 2021 All-Star Game in Atlanta on March 7, All-Star voting opened on January 28 and ran through February 16. On Thursday the league revealed the first results with the top 10 players named for each conference in the backcourt and frontcourt.

Like every year, fan voting accounts for 50 percent of the final vote for the five starters named in each conference, with the coaches and media each having a 25 percent say in the starters. The player with the most number of votes in each conference is named a captain, and the two captains pick teams from the pre-selected pool of All-Stars.

After the first returns, in the Eastern backcourt, Kevin Durant leads all vote-getters in the league, with fellow Brooklyn teammates Kyrie Irving and James Harden respectively, behind Wizards star Bradley Beal.

In the Western Conference, LeBron James sits atop all front court players while also leading the conference in votes. Stephen Curry returned to the top spot for guards after being out last season with a broken hand.

According to the results released by the NBA, Durant leads all players with 2,302,705 votes, while James comes in close at 2,288,676. Stephen Curry is the only other player who has received a minimum of two million votes (2,113,178). Washington Wizards star Bradley Beal leads all Eastern Conference guards with 1,273,817 votes.

Despite coming back from a torn Achilles, Durant has shattered even the most optimistic expectations for him. The Nets megastar is averaging 30.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.2 assists per night. He is also shooting 53.3 percent overall and a career-high 45.2 percent from the three-pointer line.

Reigning two-time MVP, Giannis Antetokounmpo is having a dominant season with 27 points, 11.2 rebounds and six assists in 20 games for the Milwaukee Bucks.

Perhaps the biggest surprise from the first round of voting is that Anthony Davis sits fourth among frontcourt players in the Western Conference. This season, he has not been as dominant statistically as he has in the past. Averaging 22.3 points per game, he is on pace to record his lowest average since 2013-14. He is also averaging the fewest rebounds per game (8.7) since he was a rookie in 2012-13.
