Micromax IN Note 1’s Android 11 update, Wireless Audio devices, 5G enabled devices, and much more

Indian multinational electronics company, Micromax, was one of the leading Indian smartphone OEM till 2015. Since the arrival of Chinese companies in the Indian market, companies like Micromax failed to compete against them. They failed to match the cost efficiency and technological advancements provided by the Chinese devices.

Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, announced the requirement of India to be self-reliant. The initiatives like Atmanirbhar Bharat helped almost-dead companies like Micromax to come back into the market. Micromax made the re-entry with the IN series which was released in November 2020.

The new series was well received by the customers and generated a lot of attraction. Micromax promised a few updates with their launch and we can see them fulfilling the first of those very soon. The IN Note 1 smartphone is set to receive a major upgrade to Android 11.

In an online talk, Rahul Sharma, one of the Co-founders of Micromax, revealed that the Android 11 update will come in the new series by April 2021. He stated that the update will first come on the IN Note 1. Following that, it will soon be available in the Micromax IN 1B. The scheduled updates will include the camera system and the current Android security patch.

In the same online Q&A session, Rahul Sharma also cleared that there will not be any additional local user interface as it is not required after the update to Android 11. He also hinted that the R&D unit of Micromax is working very hard to build a flagship 5G smartphone with premium accessories.

We can expect this 5G device to come very soon. This might be paired with flagship earphones which will be supported with the latest technology. Not only earphones but according to Rahul Sharma, there might be other wireless products as well. He also reacted positively when asked whether IN 1B can come in 4 GB + 64 GB variant. With all of this, Micromax is trying to stage a comeback. As fellow Indians, we are proud to see an Indian smartphone company putting in all the efforts. Hopefully, it can manufacture attractive products which can take them flying again.

India to get its first chip fabrication plant?

0

Our country is the second most populated country in the world, so naturally in a digital India, the need for digital devices is immense. So, to empower them, at the core of any electronic device is the processor or SoC, which built from wafers and currently makers like Samsung, TSMC are the leaders in this segment.

A chip manufacturing plant is a resource-intensive task but ultimately drives investment from various companies who use these wafers to make processors, GPUs, mobile SoCs and a lot more. India heavily relies on Taiwan for semiconductors, so does the rest of the world but a country like India has the labour to support a chip plant.

India to get its first chip fabrication plant?
via Times of India

It seems finally India is considering this opportunity to act together to finally make this happen. As per Times of India’s latest article, India is considering this because it imports almost 65% of the electronic items from China and anything coming from the country is considered to be a security threat.

Here’s what the articles states:

The expressions of interest (Eol) shows we are really serious now,” VK Saraswat, member of the Niti AnyoR, said at a webinar organised last week by Times Tuchles, together with the India Electronics & Semiconductor Association (IESA).

Saraswat said previous attempts by India to establish chip fabs failed because the government’s policy was to reimburse costs only after the private sector set up a project “The country has realised that there’s no way other than for the government to make upfront investments,” he said.

Saurabh Gaur, Joint secretary In the electronics & IT ministry, said the Eol response has been good but said he could not disclose details yet he said India accounts for 5% of global semiconductor demand. The country’s demand for 28 nm (a measure of the size of transistors in a chip) semiconductor nodes and higher ones are in excess of $25 billion.

“And if a typical fab output is of say 3-4 billion, then we see space for fabs that can be ready in the next 23 years,” he said.

But almost every panellist, including Gaur, indicated that India’s best opportunities are in what are called compound semiconductors those made of two or more elements, like allium nitride, allium arsenide, silicon carbide. These are used in a variety of media products, and these fabs cost much less set up than the traditional fabs.

If India progresses in this direction, surely in the coming few years, India could indeed setup a semiconductor plant, which in turn will attract companies to invest in the soil. In a fast pacing digital world, this could be a gamechanging move if India somehow manages to do things in a right way possible.

“We have 17 entrances to the stadium, and we are going to have people manning them with hand sanitisers and temperature checks. Plus, a mask is mandatory. There are medical kiosks on the ground. In addition, we have an isolation room, medical room and we have four ambulances placed on the ground,” Ramasaamy explained.

The TNCA revealed that out of the 15 thousand tickets that were available, about four thousand were blocked for members and only 10 thousand were on sale for the public. The range of the tickets fell between Rs 100 and Rs 200.

India lost the first Test of their four-Test series vs England in Chennai. Top 10 highest-earning Premier League forwards on Instagram in 2021

0

Footballers lead a very luxurious life which is possible only because of their huge earnings. They earn from their football clubs and also from endorsements. Social media platforms like Instagram have become an important source of income for footballers now-a-days.

The research, carried out by luxury clothing retailer Aphrodite, analysed follower count, value per post, and post frequency to calculate an estimated yearly fee for each player.

Here we take a look at the Premier League forwards:

Top 10 Premier League forwards earning the most on Instagram in 2021

Social media has been a key way for fans to keep up to date with their favourite players during the past year of restrictions placed on professional football. While some teams have resumed play, stadiums look set to remain closed for many spectators.

Commenting on the findings, Duncan McKenzie from Aphrodite said: “Many footballers have gained immense followings across social media platforms in recent years, and it acts as a way of appealing to a new generation of fans, too.

What happens off the pitch is constantly shaping the nature of the game, and new stars can be born from social media rather than scoring actual goals”.

Note:

  • Information was gathered using Instagram analysis, and footballers chosen for the data sample were done so based on their follower count.
  • Instagram average post value is calculated based on a value per follower of £0.005 based on data from Inkifi.
  • Data was correct as of 11/01/2021
