Q&A with Paula Lanco – Chairwoman of the Women’s Rugby Advisory Committee

0

Paula takes us on a journey to where she is today, and gives other women aspiring to follow in her footsteps advice on what it takes to become a true leader

CAPE TOWN, South Africa, March 8, 2021/ — As the world celebrates International Women’s Day and the dynamic women who have and continue to excel in their fields in all industries, it is fitting that we celebrate one of the leading women in Rugby Afrique, Paula Lanco – a Rugby Afrique Exco member and Chairperson of the newly formed Women’s Rugby Advisory Committee (WRAC).

In this Q&A Paula takes us on a journey to where she is today, and gives other women aspiring to follow in her footsteps advice on what it takes to become a true leader.

As a Rugby Africa Executive member and Chairperson of the Women’s Rugby Advisory Committee (WRAC), what significance does International Women’s Day have for you?

It’s a very important day, especially for women in leadership. It’s a time to take stock of our progress, to review what’s working, and to restructure to achieve better and stronger performances in the future.

It is also a time to celebrate those that have and continue to do so much for our game, including the men that stand by us, and in our case being led by our President Khaled Babbou and Vice President Andrew Awor, among other members of the Rugby Africa EXCO and management.

It is a day to recommit, to embrace, support and champion the women’s agenda on and off-pitch.

What inspires and drives you in the roles you currently occupy in rugby?

I believe in the power of action, especially when it appears as though the odds are against us. This is greatly evidenced by the impact the benefactors of our women in Leadership Scholarship have and continue to deliver at local level, and more so the rising number of Union Women Presidents & Vice Presidents in Africa.

I believe in the power of sports to change and touch lives for the better, and that can be seen in the many ‘Beyond Sports’ initiatives we’re rolling out this year especially through our women’s rugby ambassadors, the Unstoppables.

Equally importantly I believe in the power of women to deliver and their ability to rise to the occasion when called upon, and as such the excitement in the co-option of more women in rugby leadership in our WRAC committee and subcommittees.

This aspect drives and inspires me to do and want more for our women in rugby and my continued quest to push for a brighter future for both our girls and women on and off the field.

How long have you been involved in rugby, and give us a brief description of journey to this point?

I was first co-opted as a member of the first ever Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) Women’s Committee in 2011 and following this I was co-opted as a KRU Board Director and placed in charge of Women’s rugby in Kenya.

In 2013 we made history as a Union when I was appointed the first Woman to be duly elected, and as such, I shattered the glass ceiling, paving the way for more women to join in their own right as duly elected members.

I also Chaired the Community Rugby Committee and served on the Finance & Admin committee during my time at the KRU.

I finished my term in 2017, and upon my exit from the KRU Board, I launched RUCKiT Girls Rugby Kenya in 2017 as a means of continued involvement in the growth and development of the girls game at the grassroots level.

I continue to do so, and this year we launched the RUCKiT Queens Women’s rugby team that made its maiden appearance in the recently launched KRU Women’s Festival on Sunday, 28th February.

In 2019 I was duly elected as a member of Rugby Africa & in August 2020 I was elected by the Rugby Africa EXCO to form and Chair the first ever Women’s Rugby Advisory Committee.

It has been a humbling journey filled with many life lessons, great learnings and also great memories.

We travelled the world representing our sport and flying our country’s flag with pride.

What no one ever sees though is the blood, tears and sweat it took to build the brand that stands proudly today as Kenya Lionesses, and that makes for a special bond between me and the players to date.

While you lead and are judged by the public when it comes to rugby, I learned to manage privately – which on many occasions had me greatly misunderstood.

This strategy, however, served to keep me focused, and as at the time of my exit, we were participating in International invitation games; had launched the historic 7s girls’ tournament in our public secondary schools; had over 2000 girls and women playing rugby; formed ten women’s clubs and sides, and rolled out our women’s local league. We also hosted the first ever Women’s Confederation of African Rugby (CAR) tournament in the EA region, and through God’s grace our girls participated in the inaugural 2016 Olympic Games.

To crown it all, in 2014 and 2015 both Rugby Africa (then CAR) and World Rugby recognised Kenya Women’s Rugby as the best run in the region. This was further affirmed by the Women’s SOYA Awards 1st and 2nd place won in 2013 and 2014.

I can truly say that while the journey may not be easy, it is certainly well worth it.

What do you love the most about rugby?

Our ability to use the sport, especially when you start them off early, as an entry to communities and to touch and impact lives for the better.

Much like music, sport is a universal language and especially rugby, and what a great tool it is to introduce rugby as a way to build confidence and to help shape our next generation of players, while at the same time building character.

What advice would you give women aspiring to take up rugby as players or in leadership roles?

Truth be told, you will be misunderstood.

There will be many that tell you this is a man’s game.

There will be many that tell you it can’t be done.

There will be many that will use your choice to join rugby leadership to tarnish your name, your reputation and tear you apart.

But despite this and looking back at how far we have come in Women’s rugby, I say to you, look at those that have gone before you and draw courage in that.

Stay true to your intentions, to your calling, to your game and stand to be counted because you can and because you have a right to be here.

What is your vision for women in rugby in the next 10 years?

To borrow the words of Maggie Alphonsi, ‘Rugby is a Sport, Not a Gender’.

As such my vision is to see the Africa women in rugby compete on the world stage, and equally importantly that both our girls and boys enjoy equal pay, preparation and opportunity – both on and off the field.

The Battle Between the Best Sports Betting Websites

0

Sports betting in India has grown like never before. Many sports betting websites are the best in the business right now, and Betway 365 is one of them, with many other websites that offer the sports betting category.

Many sports betting websites have following loyal fans because they offer high-quality services to their users. The fans of Betway and Bet365 can use high-quality features from their website and applications.

Both have a good website and application. But between, which is the best sports betting app and site? Today, in this segment you will read betway India review.

  • Both the apps are users friendly – The app and website should be user-friendly to its followers and fans. It is the most crucial aspect that will help users use the app regularly, especially for first-time users of a betting site. The users should browser anything they want without being struck. Making a bet can be frustrating. That’s why the websites or the apps shouldn’t be cluttered and congested.
  • Betway is the most user-friendly website and application – Betway is the more user-friendly website and application. The site and app is more tailor-made for our country users. While using this app and website, it feels more Indian than using the Bet365 app and website.
  • The Deposit Methods –  As per spinsvilla, The users of any betting website and applications, should check the deposit methods first. The funds which is transferred should be sage, and they should transfer it without any problems. That is why the users should see the options available before they transfer their funds on the sports betting sites and applications.
  • Betway is the clear winner here also– They make it quite easy to transfer funds. Betway’s Indian website and application. Betway is a more Indian focused website, while Bet365 is more concentrated globally. The deposit methods of Betway is very user friendly to Indian users. One can transfer funds with many options like bank transfer, Skrill, UPI and many more. Bet365 does not give so many options like Betway. That is why the deposit methods are easy on Betway.
  • The betting odds – In betting, the betting odds play a crucial role. They can tell the users how much money they can win from the bets. The higher odds they yield, the more money they can win. That is why the user needs to pay careful attention to the betting odds before playing on sports betting websites.
  • Bet365 offers the newer users look at betting odds – In the betting odds category, Bet365 is the winner. They provide higher betting odds than Betty. The difference might look small, but the margins become significant.
  • The welcome Bonus – In all the betting websites and applications, the welcome bonus is the main category that the new users look at. The users go to the website, which offers a more welcome bonus. Various sites provide a welcome bonus, and they have a different and attractive bonus from the others to their new users. Both the sporting website gives a 100 per cent bonus on their first deposit. But still, Bet wins the battle here also. In Betway, one can double the welcome bonus after the users’ deposit 200 rupees. The prize can go up to 8 thousand rupees. The bonus can be used in sportsbook and casinos as well.
  • Live Streaming Service – The live streaming service is essential in a most betting website. Some websites can show the live matches on the websites and applications, while some don’t have this value-added feature in their websites and applications. Bet 365 is the clear winner because it has a quality live streaming service, which is for free. One should have only the funded account, and they can access the live shows of their favourite sports.
  • Live Betting – The bookmarkers are high on both sites for live betting. But Bet365 holds an edge because it has a live betting session with the live streaming service. The site also covers more sports, and it has a more extensive sportsbook than Betway. Bet365 is the best IPl betting site because it has a combination of live betting and live streaming service.
  • Cricket Betting – Betway and Bet365 have the best cricket matches and the tournaments which one can bet on. Both sites have large cricket betting markets and diverse betting options. Betway is the winner because they have a larger cricket betting market than Bet365.  Betway site and the app is ore dedicated to the Indian market, and with their extensive research, they have realized that Cricket is not just a game. But it is a religion in India.
  • Mobile Betting – In today’s busy schedule, mobile has been an essential tool for everyone in this world. The betting industry has also benefited because of modern technology, and mobile is one of them. With mobile, one can easily place their bets on one go. Both websites have cool mobile applications. But Bet365 is better because of its live betting and streaming services.

At the end, which app is better, Bet365 or Betway?

Both the apps and website have excellent features and options. But one should take whatever they want, and if they are still undecided, they can download the app and use the website to gain a better experience of both sports betting applications and then decided which is the best.

SK Hynix announces the mass production of 18GB LPDDR5 mobile DRAM

0

The world’s one of the biggest DRAM maker has announced that it has kicked off mass production of 18GB LPDDR5 mobile DRAM. This is a significant announcement as 18GB RAM is in itself is the first time to be ever seen.

SK Hynix has recently said that its new LPDDR5 mobile DRAM runs at up to a whopping 6,400Mbps, around 20% faster than the standard mobile LPDDR5 DRAM with speeds of up to 5,500Mbps. At this data rate, you can transfer ten 5GB FHD (Full-HD) movies per second.

This Sky Hynix’s 18GB LPDDR5 mobile DRAM will be included in the upcoming gaming smartphones as well as on other premium devices; even such a huge quantity of RAM on smartphones doesn’t make any sense.

Quite expectedly, SK Hynix did end disclosing the fact that the very first smartphone that will be equipped with 18GB LPDDR5 RAM will be Asus’s ROG 5 gaming smartphone series marking the start of full-scale volume production. It makes sense as the launch of the smartphone is just days apart.

As Digitimes states, the LPDDR5 DRAM accounts for only about 10% of the entire mobile DRAM market currently. However, the market share is expected to rise above 50% by 2023, as more and more devices adopt faster RAM solutions.

TRA Research, one of India’s foremost data insights companies released its 10th edition of ‘The Brand Trust Report, India Study 2020’ recently. AMD has been recognized as the Most Trusted Brand of India under the Semiconductor Category in this annual brand study.

“2020 was a breakthrough year for AMD as we made tremendous progress in establishing AMD as the high-performance computing leader across PC, gaming and data center markets”, said Mukesh Bajpai, Marketing Head, AMD India Private Limited. “We are thrilled to be recognized as India’s most trusted Semiconductor brand by TRA Research. This is a testimony to the deep mindshare, and consumer confidence, we have established in India. Most Trusted Brand of India in Semiconductor category by TRA

TRA’s Brand Trust Report 2020 results from comprehensive primary research conducted on TRA’s proprietary 10 brand behaviours that make up the Brand Trust Matrix. The study had 1,711 consumer-influencers across 16 cities as respondents. It analyzed over 8,000 unique brands, from which the top 1000 brands were listed in the report.

This is no exception because a lot of Indian people have loved AMD and its products, especially the Ryzen family. In a short time span, AMD has gained the trust of Indians, and so these days, their first choice is always AMD Ryzen products.

Not only using AMD CPUs for custom PCs, but their APUs are also famous among gamers who cannot afford dedicated GPUs. On the other hand, AMD Ryzen mobile processors have totally transformed the landscape of the laptop market and now people prefer AMD powered laptops as they are more “value-for-money” products.

Gaining people’s trust takes a lot of time; however, AMD seems to have done it in a short span of time, so kudos team Red and AMD India.
