History will be made when the first BAL season tips off today and culminates with the crowning of the first BAL champion on Sunday, May 30

KIGALI, Rwanda, May 16, 2021/ — The inaugural Basketball Africa League (BAL) season will tip off today at 4:00 p.m. CAT / 10 a.m. ET when Rwanda’s Patriots Basketball Club (BBC) takes on Nigeria’s Rivers Hoopers at the Kigali Arena in Rwanda.

Below are facts and figures about the BAL:

•  1 – History will be made when the first BAL season tips off today and culminates with the crowning of the first BAL champion on Sunday, May 30. The BAL, a partnership between the NBA and FIBA, marks the NBA’s first collaboration to operate a league outside of North America.

•  1 – Ben Uzoh, who joined Nigeria’s Rivers Hoopers, is poised to become the first former NBA player to play in the BAL, having played for the New Jersey Nets, Cleveland Cavaliers and Toronto Raptors from 2010-12. He was also a member of the Nigeria Senior Men’s National Team at the 2016 Olympics, FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 and FIBA AfroBasket in 2013 and 2015.

•  3 – As Official Energy Partner of the BAL, New Fortress Energy Inc. (NFE) and the BAL will contribute three trees for every three-pointer made during the BAL season as part of “Threes for Trees,” a collaboration with international NGO Trees for the Future.

•  8 – A roster of eight broadcast partners will air BAL games around the world: Canal+, ESPN, beIN SPORTS, NBA TV, Tencent Video, TSN, American Forces Network (AFN) and Voice of America (VOA). All BAL games will also livestream on the NBA App, the official NBA website NBA.com and the official BAL website theBAL.com.

•  9 – The BAL is working with a roster of nine world-class marketing partners: Agence France Development (AFD), Flutterwave, Hennessy, Jordan Brand, New Fortress Energy (NFE), NIKE, Rwanda Development Board (RDB), Social Nation Africa (SNA) and Wilson.

•  9 – Nine players bring NBA G League experience to the BAL’s first season: Brandon Jay Costner and Prince Ibeh (Rwanda’s Patriots BBC); Myck Kabongo and Demarcus Holland (Mozambique’s Ferroviàrio de Maputo), Ibrahima Thomas (Mali’s AS Police); Uzoh, Taren Sullivan and Robert Christopher Daniels (Rivers Hoopers); and Ater Majok (Tunisia’s US Monastir).

•  12 – The inaugural BAL season will feature 12 club teams from 12 African countries: Algeria, Angola, Cameroon, Egypt, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal and Tunisia.

•  20 – A total of 20 former Basketball Without Borders (BWB) Africa campers are on BAL team rosters, including one NBA Academy Africa prospect (Mohab Yasser Abdelaty Abdallatif of Egypt’s Zamalek).​

•  21 – There are 21 BAL players with U.S. NCAA Division I experience, with 11 teams featuring at least one former Division I player.

•  22 – The inaugural BAL season will be officiated by 22 of FIBA Africa’s top referees, a group of 19 men and three women from 16 countries selected after live and video observation by the NBA’s Referee Operations Department, in partnership with FIBA and FIBA Africa.

•  The season will feature a total of 26 games. The 12 teams are divided into three groups of four teams. The top eight teams from the group phase will qualify for the playoffs, which will be single elimination in all three rounds.

•  154 – BAL roster feature 154 players from 24 countries across Africa, Europe, the Middle East and the U.S.

•  215 – The inaugural BAL season will reach fans in 215 countries and territories in 15 languages.

•  7,621 – The two BAL courts have travelled 7,621 miles from Dollar Bay, Michigan, to Kigali, Rwanda.

•  23,724 – The total number of miles travelled by 11 teams to get to Kigali.

•  36,975 – Each court consists of 255 panels and weighs approximately 16.7 tonnes (36,975 lbs.).

Infinix Hot 10S launching on May 20 in India

The Infinix Hot 10S launch date has been confirmed, the device will be releasing on the 20th of May and the exact price is unknown but the device will retail for under 10,000 INR.

Infinix most recently came out with its Infinix Note 10 series in India. It is all set to bring the Hot 10 S into the Indian market. The Hot 10 S is a budget device and the device will exclusively be available only on Flipkart. Do not sell the Infinix Hot 10 S short as it does come with pretty good features for its price point.

Infinix had stated that it will be releasing the full specs of the device on Flipkart on May 16th but as of yet, there has not been any update on the site. Basing the specifications on their last release of the Hot 10 S in the Indonesian market, the Infinix Hot 10 S will feature a 6.82″ HD+TFT LCD panel with a resolution of 720×1640 pixels.

The panel utilizes a 20:5:9 aspect ratio along with a dropdown notch to house the front camera. The device supports a 90Hz refresh rate along with a 180Hz touch sampling rate.

The Infinix Hot 10 S will be powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 SoC chipset and will come with 6GB RAM with 128GB worth of expandable storage. The OS of the device is XOS 7.6, an Android 11 based OS.

The most impressive feature of the Infinix Hot 10 S has to be the battery, the device is loaded with a massive 6000mAh battery and comes with a 10W charger. Battery longevity would be the last of the user’s concerns.

The Hot 10 S features a rear triple camera setup which looks like a quad-camera setup from a distance. The primary camera is a 48MP sensor along with a 2MP depth sensor and an AI lens. The front camera is an 8MP camera and the device has a fingerprint scanner at the rear.

For the price range that it is situated in, the Infinix Hot 10 S is a pretty good option, a well-balanced all-around device. Be on the lookout for the device as it drops on May 20th on Flipkart!

Redmi, the sub-brand of Xiaomi, might be launching another device in its Redmi Note 8 series. Redmi Note 8 Pro and Redmi Note 8T are the existing members of the series and now it looks like Redmi Note 8 (2021) will be added to this.

However, this information is just a leak as announced by this report. The device has a model number M1908C3JGG and is codenamed “biloba”.

The smartphone will be powered with the eight-core Helio G85 chip that comes with an ARM Mali-G52 MP2 GPU and will be coupled with 4 GB + 64 GB and 4 GB + 128 GB storage variants.

It will run MIUI 12.5 out of the box. The device could draw the energy from a modest 4,000 mAh battery cell and will be paired with a 22.5 W fast-charging support.

The display is supposed to come with a waterdrop notch and will have a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The camera module at the back is touted to have the main camera of a 48 MP sensor. The report further suggests that this Redmi Note 8 Reloaded will launch in the Global, EU and Russian markets.

Is the card worth doing?

The Edmond Tapsoba 92-rated CB SBC is one of the best SBCs EA Sports has given in FIFA 21. The player has terrifying stats and costs just 2 teams, 85 and 86 rated, which will cost you around 300k FIFA coins. Considering the other SBCs which are available in FIFA 21, this one is an absolute bargain.

During this TOTS event, there are many higher players which you can get from objectives and even from random packs, so it’s very easy to get this SBC done. I have done this SBC after completing the ICON Swaps 3 SBC – 83+ x25 players. Let’s check out the 92-rated Edmond Tapsoba CB card in details.

Edmond Tapsoba has a perfect height of 6’4″, which will make it easy for him to win the aerial duels. He also has a high defensive work rate along with a medium attacking work rate. The card has 2* skill move and 3* weak foot, which is decent.

The most exciting part of the card is the pace. He has 89 pace, which is insane for a defender, and it will make it almost impossible for the opponent’s attackers to go past him.

Another thing that stands apart for him is his passing. He has a 99-rated long and short pass which is almost rare in defenders. His defending and physical are also decent, if not the very best in-game, but his pace will make up for all those things. You can use a Backbone chemistry style or use an Anchor as well on him.

The Edmond Tapsoba Bundesliga TOTS card also has a power header trait which will be useful during corners and aerial duels. Overall, the card is a monster of a CB, and as he is from Bundesliga, you get many options to connect him in your defence like you can do the Flashback objective Roussillon or TOTS moments SBC Lazaro to connect with him.

The Tapsoba card goes straight into my main team and I will also be doing the Flashback Roussillon objective and play him at LB to connect him with Tapsoba. The card is terrific in-game and he can almost outrun any attacker and stop a counterattack.

So, I guess you have already got your answer to why you should definitely do this SBC. Getting a player like this for such a low cost is an absolute win-win situation. So go and hurry up. Complete the SBC and use him in your matches.

Outside a Samsung store, a Mural was spotted showing Samsung Galaxy Note 21 5G mentioned on it. The fate of the Galaxy Note line is shrouded in mystery. Although Samsung has admitted that it is not going to introduce a new member to this line in 2021, it has not yet confirmed or denied that it will be canceled.

To raise even more doubts about the future of this line, we have a reference to the Samsung Galaxy Note 21 and Note 21 Ultra. The name of these two models, which have not yet been introduced, came from outside the brand’s largest official stores in South Korea.

As we can see from the shared pictures, this is a mural at the entrance of the Samsung Store featured in the Google logo. This includes many Samsung products, but the Samsung Galaxy Note 21 5G and Samsung Galaxy Note 21 Ultra 5G are notable. These names are with the different types of products the brand has already introduced. Here we can highlight Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy S21, Samsung Galaxy Note 20, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2, etc.

The names Galaxy Note 21 and Note 21 Ultra are in effect without Samsung introducing them on this wall. The event raises doubts about the future of this series of smartphones. Note 21 is unlikely to feature this year. There have been no rumors about them for about three months since they were usually introduced, except that Samsung has already confirmed that it will not launch them.

The importance of having these names at the entrance of the Samsung store is something we cannot measure. We cannot rule out the possibility that they will only be launched next year, however, this creates some discrepancies in the brand’s primary names.

After the IPL 2021 was suspended due to the elevation in COVID-19 cases, the BCCI had its resumption in mind in September. However, ever since it got shut down, there have been multiple reasons in the account as to why the second phase of the IPL seems infeasible this year. The remaining 31 matches might get extremely difficult to conduct because of reasons including the tight schedule of cricket competitions this year.

The T20 World Cup comes off as an obstacle in the course as the players would suffer from the lack of practice for the tournament if IPL gets carried on. Amidst all this, England’s Cricket Board don’t feel that it is safe to let their players travel back for phase 2 if it happens. Also, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has stated that this year’s IPL can no longer be hosted in India.

With all the recent developments, there are reasons why the second phase might possibly not be commenced.

1) Overseas players unavailable

England will be playing in the FTP; New Zealand will be playing Pakistan in a limiters-overs series in UAE. Afghanistan is also in line to play Pakistan in the meantime. Apart from all of this, Bangladesh will also be playing England. All these series will be played before the T20 World Cup. Therefore, it is unlikely that most of the overseas players will be available for phase 2.

2) Unavailability of UAE grounds

Since it is infeasible to host the remaining IPL fixtures and a country like the UK because of the strict quarantine protocols, the BCCI would be seeking the possibility of hosting the rest of the matches in UAE. However, Pakistan’s series against New Zealand and Afghanistan are to be played at the same venue. Also, in a case where the T20 World Cup also gets allotted to the UAE, it might get extremely improbable that IPL phase 2 gets a spot.

3) Possible ICC resentment

Although the BCCI has a significant amount of say in whatever decision is made by the ICC, it seems highly unlikely that the council will go against their policy regarding the marketing of their main tournament. No other cricket tournament’s marketing activity can be held 7 days before and after ICC’s tournament (T20 World Cup)

4) India’s commitments

There is another reason as to why the IPL phase 2 doesn’t seem like it would be taking place. India will be inclined to complete the limited-overs series against South Africa which could not be held in 2020 due to the outburst COVID-19; it is scheduled before the T20 World Cup. Apart from this, India had also planned to host a series against New Zealand, which puts the resumption of the IPL in jeopardy.

5) T20 World Cup

The World Cup this year is possibly the biggest reason on the list. Playing the World Cup is the utmost priority of every cricket board; none of them would want to risk their players’ fitness by allowing them to play in the IPL if it resumes. Ben Stokes, who still needs 7-8 weeks to recover from his injury, is a good example of why all the sides will be cautious about their players.

Zinedine Zidane has reportedly told the Real Madrid squad that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season. This happened after the second leg semi-final defeat in the Champions League to Chelsea, and before the game against Sevilla. 

The news of the departure is being claimed as the main reason behind the pre-match press conference starting later than usual. During the conversation with the press ahead of today’s clash against Athletic Club Bilbao Zidane was quoted saying:

Zidane has come under fire for his team’s performances this season. However, Madrid managed to qualify for the semifinals of the Champions League and are still in the hunt for the LaLiga title, behind their local rivals Atletico. 

The primary source of criticism for the Frenchman’s version of the club is the lack of reliance on youth. Inversely, his dependency on the more experienced players has left the club exposed for a lack of energy many times throughout the campaign. 

That said, the Madrid boss has had an unbelievable number of injuries to deal with. Major players like Sergio Ramos, Eden Hazard, Raphael Varane and Dani Carvajal have been on the treatment table for prolonged periods of time. This has caused Zidane to be without his first-choice XI for most of the season. 

Max Allegri, Joachim Low, Carlo Ancelotti and Raul are among the various names being linked with the job, should Zidane truly leave.

This time Max Jambor has again made a major modification over his pervious claim on the name of the upcoming OnePlus Nord smartphone. According to him the name of the OnePlus Nord N1 5G has been changed to OnePlus Nord CE 5G.

Apart from this the tipster has not shared any information about the smartphone yet. But as the name has been changed only the actual specifications of the same phone will remain as it is. Though nothing is officially confirmed yet, still we can look what were the actual specs of the Nord N1 5G and justify when more details will surface online.

We expect the ‘CE’ in OnePlus Nord CE stands for ‘Classic Edition’. This smartphone can pack one of the recently launched 5G chipsets as the Nord series is the mid-range series of the brand. This might help the company to reduce the cost of the smartphone. The recently introduced Snapdragon 768G chipset can do the work as it is currently introduced and is a better option than the Snapdragon 750G chipset which has already been used in the OnePlus Nord 5G.
