Intel is open to use AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution on its upcoming Xe-HPG gaming GPUs

0

The Blue team will enter into the hot discrete GPU market anytime soon; however, their lack of experience in making high performing GPUs is making them even tenser, obviously. These days, gamers want high frame rates from games and better image quality, reflection, shadows, game physics, and much more.

Intel, who is just planning to step into the GPU market mostly dominated by NVIDIA, convincing gamers to go for Intel GPUs would be a difficult job. On the other hand, AMD brought the much-awaited NVIDIA DLSS alternative during the keynote, known as the FidelityFX Super Resolution.

AMD launches FidelityFX Super Resolution for all GPUs & APUs

The interesting thing about AMD’s resolution upscaling technology is that it uses spatial upscaling technique and does not rely on artificial intelligence or machine learning. So, implementing it on any kind of hardware is possible as AMD demoed this tech on a GTX 1060 as well.

AMD’s FidelityFX SR does not rely on motion vectors or even history buffers, which means that a performance boost with Tensors alike is unnecessary for the technology to work. Now, we have no idea whether AMD could provide better upscaling with its FSR against NVIDIA’s DLSS, so we have to wait until June 22nd.

Meanwhile, on Twitter, in a response to Kyle Bennett, who asked Raja Koduri whether Intel would use AMD’s cross-platform FSR technology which is supported by DirectX12, DirectX11, and Vulkan APIs, so it should also work on Intel GPUs.

So, Koduri replied that Intel is already looking to give FSR a try on the upcoming Xe-HPG based GPUs. It will be interesting to see AMD’s tech get universally adopted even on upcoming Intel GPUs as well, and this will even make things easier for game developers as well.

Huawei MatePad Pro launched with HarmonyOS

Huawei has announced three new MatePad Pro tablets, a new 12.6″ MatePad Pro, a smaller 10.8″ MatePad Pro, and a new MatePad 11. These devices will be the debut of the HarmonyOS for tablets.

Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets will power the smaller variants of the MatePad Pro over the Huawei Kirin chipset, which has been their go-to chipset for the prior tablets.

The 10.8″ MatePad Pro will come with a Snapdragon 870 chipset whereas the 10.95″ MatePad 11 will come with a Snapdragon 865 chipset. The flagship tab, the 12.6″ MatePad Pro will come with Huawei’s Kirin 9000E processor.

Huawei’s switch to HarmonyOS does not give it the rights to access Google apps and services, which has impacted the brand’s sales outside of China. Huawei’s app gallery has been constantly updated to make it as good as the Google Play Store but it still comes nowhere near it.

Huawei has had several allegations thrown at it regarding how the HarmonyOS is just a glorified open-source Android-Fork. The Verge’s Jon Porty successfully attempted to install Whatsapp’s official Android APK on the new MatePad Pro which gives those allegations a level of credibility.

This year’s MatePad Pro features some updates that resemble Apple’s tablets. The new FreeNote feature lets you use the M-Pencil to write into dialogue boxes and it turns your handwriting into typed text format. The MatePad’s home screen now includes a dock with your most frequently used apps.

The 12.6″ variant of the MatePad features a webcam that is built into the bezel on the long edge of the screen which makes it more convenient for attending conference calls in landscape mode. It comes with a 1600 x 2560 OLED screen.

Huawei’s screen-mirroring technology makes a comeback in the MatePad Pro; previously, one could mirror their phone screen onto the screen of their tablet. Now, you can do the same with Huawei laptops or use them as an external display.

The 12.6″ MatePad Pro comes with a 10,050mAh battery which can run playback video for 14 hours simultaneously on a single charge. It will feature a 40W fast charger and with a 27W wireless charging capacity. It also offers reverse wireless charging at 10W.

The MatePad Pro features a triple-camera setup on the rear, four mics, eight speakers and support for 5G. A new generation of Huawei M-Pencil stylus will be introduced along with the MatePad Pro as well. The new stylus will be more accurate with a 9ms latency with a platinum-coated transparent nib.

Huawei has not officially confirmed the pricing of the MatePad Pro, except for the 12.6″ variant which is scheduled to release on June 10 for Yuan 4999($783) for the 128GB Wi-Fi model. The 10.8″ variant will probably be priced at Yuan 3799($595) for the 128GB model. The MatePad 11’s pricing is unknown. The stylus pencil will retail for Yuan 599( $94).

Why signing Emerson Royal is a good bargain for Barcelona?

FC Barcelona sees some important signings recently; thanks to Laporta, you sense these transfers are more value-for-money deals than ever! Under Bartomeu, we have seen the cash been thrown on big signings, but no results from these players.

However, things have changed a lot after Laporta arrived; he promised new signings and told about big exists. Obviously, you won’t see them coming very soon, but you will hear rumours because the new Barcelona board desperately wants to lower wages.

The free transfers of Eric Garcia and Sergio Aguero show how this board wants more efficient deals. The signing which we were expecting was the signing of an emerging right-back Emerson Royal from Real Betis, who was half-owned by Barcelona until now.

So, after giving a €9m buy-back clause in his contract to Real Betis, the Brazilian has become a complete Barcelona player. Now let us explain why signing Emerson is a good bargain for Barcelona and how could he help the much-needed defensive area of the Blaugranas.

Emerson is a 22-year old right-back who is quite tall, having a height of 1.83 m and is quite fast and physically strong. He could also be a great option in attack because he helped Betis last season with 2 goals and 4 assists.

Barcelona has struggled a lot in this position after losing Dani Alves, so many specialists find some similarities with his fellow Brazilian Emerson Royal. He is technically good and has helped Real Betis a lot in the past two seasons, also gaining the LaLiga experience, he could be a great asset for Barcelona.

The young Sergiño Dest is also growing at FC Barcelona, and now with Emerson, both could have a healthy competition that could help the team in the long run.

Now, talking from an economic standpoint, the €9m invested here is a very nominal fee for a player like him because his current market value stands at €25m. Even though the contract has not been signed yet, still he will earn a lot less than Sergio Roberto.

Also, sad to say, but Roberto has not been convincing enough for the last few seasons, and he earns a lot more than he gives the output. So, among Laporta’s exit list Roberto is one of the high-profile names who could be shown the exit door, so having a player like Emerson Royal is a risk-free investment as he holds high market value.

IPL 2021: BCCI says salary will be deducted in case of the absence of foreign players from IPL 2021 phase 2

With 2nd phase of IPL being hosted in UAE, the BCCI is readily preparing to host the remaining of the tournament.

However, some of the foreign players will not be joining their respective teams in UAE and are set to miss the 2nd phase of the prized tournament, some big names belonging to this criteria are Ben Stokes and Pat Cummins.

The BCCI has stated that in case of failure to appear in the 2nd phase of IPL in UAE will result in a deduction in the salaries paid by the franchises paid to the players.

A BCCI official when asked about this stated “Yes it is correct, in case they (foreign players) can’t make it to UAE for IPL, franchises will be within their right to cut their salaries and pay them only on a PRO-RATA basis.”

For example, if Ben Stokes does not feature in the 2nd phase of IPL he will only receive 50% of his bidding price in this case 50% of Rs.12.5 crore being Rs.6.25 crore.

Indian Premier League 2021 May Resume In 3rd Week Of September In UAE: Report | Cricket News

There are few clauses in the contracts of players participating in IPL which are:

  1. BCCI pays a portion of the salary being paid to the player by their respective boards for the duration of the IPL and training camps organized by franchises prior to it.
  2. Players are paid their salaries in 3 to 4 installments in a period of 12 months.
  3. Incase of absence due to injury during IPL or the aforementioned camps, the player will receive full salary.
  4. In the scenario of IPL not being conducted by BCCI due to some unavoidable circumstance, the players will receive full payment.
  5. If any player is not available for a certain period in the IPL, then the players are to be paid in a pro-rata basis.

England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have stated that their players will not be given NOCs for participation in the IPL this season due to national commitments and a further tightly packed schedule before the ICC T-20 World Cup.

Reports suggest New Zealand Cricket Board are looking to do the same as ECB while Cricket Australia still hasn’t made a decision on the matter however it is highly unlikely to allow their players to participate in the IPL considering current circumstances.

However, Central contracted Indian players do not have to worry about this as they are protected by the “Players Insurance” scheme.

Analysing the pros and cons of Sergio Aguero joining Barcelona on his 33rd birthday

Sergio Aguero has been officially unveiled as a Barcelona player, linking up with his best friend and Argentina teammate Leo Messi. However, what does the player’s arrival bring to the club and will he be a success at Barcelona?

Pros

Aguero is an extremely experienced striker and knows La Liga well due to his spell with Atletico Madrid before joining Manchester City. Moreover, he is an orthodox number 9 that matches the style of Barcelona.

He can do more than hold up the ball and can dribble past the opposition as well. His ability to link up with other players even in tight spaces makes him an even bigger threat. And that is also one of the reasons why his style of play matches that of Barcelona.

His familiarity with Messi also calls for a shorter time to get adjusted to the attacking side of things, while his clinical finishing makes him exactly what Ronald Koeman has been holding out for.

Cons

The newly signed player turned 33 today and has struggled with injuries over the last few seasons. His knee has been particularly susceptible to damage recently, and that caused him to sit on the bench for prolonged spells in his last two seasons at City.

He missed 24 games this past season and 17 the season before, this makes his position as a starter a questionable one. And considering the number of injury problems Barcelona are having to deal with, Koeman will have to be careful with the Argentinian striker.

Mauricio Pochettino: Tottenham wants him as manager despite PSG being convinced that he would stay

After firing Jose Mourinho as their head coach in April, Tottenham looks to recruit a suitable replacement in the dugout. With Ryan Mason acting as the interim as of now, they are a seemingly brittle force and would wish to secure a worthy contender at the earliest. Mauricio Pochettino, who was sacked from his role at the club in late 2019, is once again on the radar for the manager role.

Earlier, the Argentine was also among the options for Real Madrid. Since Zinedine Zidane resigned from his position after two seasons in his second spell, Los Blancos were surfing the market for a suitor. Ultimately, with the signing of ex-manager Carlo Ancelotti, the void at the Santiago Bernabeu has been fulfilled. This was further motivation for Spurs to pursue Pochettino. However, his potential transfer to North London appears to be complicated.

With his current club in Paris Saint Germain contently reassured that they will end up keeping him beyond the summer, Spurs owner Daniel Levy is noticeably considering different options as well. However, Fabrizio Romano has reported that if Pochettino desires, and makes a public announcement, there could arise an opportunity for him to be at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season. In any other case, PSG are confident in their belief of retaining him.

Pochettino was appointed as Tuchel’s replacement at PSG (via NBC Sports)

Pochettino has been in Paris for less than a season after taking over when Thomas Tuchel was fire mid-season. Even if there is a chance that he expresses his desire to move, the situation will largely be in the control of Paris Saint Germain. The French giants absolutely wish to hold onto him beyond the summer. Conveniently enough, they would be in a position to demand an extremely high amount of money to release him from his 18-month contract that he signed in January.

With the plethora of talks around other managers such as Antonio Conte, Spurs realize that the Pochettino saga has a huge potential to fall into complications, if not acted upon soon.

Chelsea set for a major squad overhaul this summer

Chelsea are set for a massive squad overhaul this summer with as many as ten names set to depart Thomas Tuchel’s team this summer. The Blues won the Champions League this summer, and will be preparing for their first full season under the German coach.

Players out on loan such as Ross Barkley, Davide Zappacosta, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Danny Drinkwater and Michy Batshuayi are expected to leave the club permanently. Moreover, Fikayo Tomori, currently out on loan to AC Milan is also expected to be signed permanently by the Rossoneri since they have an option to buy the player.

Squad players such as Danny Drinkwater, Emerson and Olivier Giroud are expected to leave the club. Giroud reportedly has an agreement with AC Milan to join once his contract with Chelsea expires, and he will possibly link up with Tomori at the San Siro.

The most surprising names involved in transfers out of the club include Tammy Abraham and Kurt Zouma. The young English striker has been refusing to agree a new contract with Chelsea and has been left out of the playing lineup by Tuchel as well. Zouma, on the other hand, does not fit into the plans of Tuchel, and is also expected to leave the club this summer.

Chelsea have been linked with a number of incoming transfers this summer, which include Achraf Hakimi, Niklas Sule and Harry Kane. They are in the market for a new centre-back to succeed Thiago Silva once his time at the club ends at the end of the 21/22 season. The targets will become more clear when the transfer window opens on 1st July.
