Apple will reportedly purchase 3D NAND Memory from YMTC

0

According to reports, Apple has given the go-ahead for Yangtze Memory Technologies Corp.’s 3D NAND flash to be used in the next iPhone 14 devices. The decision is a big triumph for YMTC and will guarantee a consistent supply of flash memory for Apple’s upcoming products.

According to BusinessKorea, Yangtze Memory would initially provide Apple 3D NAND for its next iPhone 14 smartphones. Apple needs a tonne of DRAM and NAND because smartphones are the company’s most popular goods. However, Apple might eventually use YMTC’s memory in other products as well. For instance, YMTC will soon release a line of fiercely competitive six-plane 3D NAND chips using the company’s Xtacking 3.0 architecture and a 2400 MT/s interface speed. Some of the greatest SSDs could someday be made possible by these chips.

The newest goods from YMTC will require some time to develop and integrate with Apple’s existing offerings.

However, given the specs provided by the most recent 3D NAND chips from the firm and Apple’s experience with 3D NAND and controllers, YMTCs have a good possibility of eventually making it into iPads or Macs.

Apple, one of the biggest customers of 3D NAND flash in the world, usually buys memory from a variety of suppliers, including Kioxia, Samsung, and SK Hynix. Since many of the items supplied by the four manufacturers are nearly identical, the addition of YMTC to the supply chain gives Apple more options in terms of attributes and performance as well as better bargaining power.

Winning a supply arrangement with Apple is significant for YMTC since up until now, the company has mostly supplied Chinese manufacturers with its 3D NAND and solid-state drives.

AMD Ryzen 7 7700X Retail 8-Core CPU crushes Ryzen 7 5800X in new Benchmark

0

Within Geekbench 5 and CPU-z, new benchmarks of a retail AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 8-Core CPU have surfaced. According to the benchmarks, AMD’s next CPU will compete with Intel’s Core i7-12700K for single- and multi-threaded performance.

The most recent benchmarks were made available in the CPU-z and Geekbench 5 benchmark tests. Since the IPC uplift in CPU-z is just +1% while the IPC uplift in Geekbench is at +14%, both of these benchmarks demonstrate a significant discrepancy in single and multi-core performance for the Ryzen 7 7700X CPU. Therefore, in these benchmarks, we are seeing AMD’s 8-Core Zen 4 performance in both the worst-case and best-case scenarios.

AMD

The AMD Ryzen 7 7700X has eight cores and sixteen threads. The CPU will have a base frequency of 4.5 GHz and a boost clock of 5.4 GHz but with a lower 105W TDP because AMD views this as the sweet spot for gaming (142W PPT). The CPU will receive a 40 MB cache pool, which is made up of 8 MB L2 and 32 MB L3 from the single Zen 4 core and CCD, respectively.

In with CPU-z, the retail model of the AMD Ryzen 7 7700X was operating on the Gigabyte X670E AORUS Master motherboard.

The CPU’s operational voltage was 1.152V, and it was working at 5.42 GHz all-core boost rates with temps around 71C. Neither the type of cooling employed nor if this was operating under load are known. The chip’s reported maximum multiplier is 55.5x, which results in a peak frequency cap of 5.5 GHz.

The CPU scored 774 points for single-core performance and 8381 points for multi-core performance. The new CPU performs 27% quicker in multi-threaded results than its forerunner, the Ryzen 7 5800X, and 20% faster in single-threaded results. In single-core tests, the chip matches the Intel Core i7-12700K with a 3 percent performance gap, but falls short in multi-threaded tests with a -15% performance gap.

The AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 8-Core CPU can be seen racing ahead with an astonishing 2209 points in single-core & 14459 points in the multi-core tests in the Geekbench 5 benchmarks. In this case, the CPU performs single-threaded operations 32% faster than the Ryzen 7 5800X, 19% faster than the Core i7-12700K, and 10% faster than the Core i7-13700K. In multi-core tests, the chip performs 3% and 40% better than the Core i7-12700K and Ryzen 7 5800X, respectively, but falls short of the Core i7-13700K by 27%.

Atomic Heart release pushed back to 2023

0

Atomic Heart, an upcoming Russian action role-playing game, will now launch in early 2023 rather than its original 2022 release date. The game will be published by Focus Entertainment once it is available on consoles and PC thanks to a new agreement the company has announced with Moscow-based Mudfish.

Focus Entertainment says it needs to push the release date into 2023 to guarantee that it is “delivering a game of the highest quality.” The release was originally scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2022.

Focus Entertainment has claimed Atomic Heart is now scheduled to launch “this winter,” indicating a date between January and March 2023, in a new blog post outlining the agreement. The announcement comes after Mundfish restated its plans for a 2022 debut during a recent showcase at Gamescom.

The game’s creator, Mudfish, previously refuted speculations of a delay, refuting rumors of a one-month break in work due to the current situation in Ukraine. The project has been given more time under the revised agreement, with a formal push into the following year.

The public was first teased about Atomic Heart in 2018 as a dystopian sci-fi shooter set in a different Soviet era. The plot has been compared by Mundfish to Black Mirror in the USSR, with a strong emphasis on ray-tracing and other graphic technology.

Fans of this ambitious game will undoubtedly be disappointed by this news, but 2022 has been plagued by release delays, making Focus Entertainment the latest to join the trend. With a day-one release on Xbox Game Pass for consoles and the PC Game Pass service for Windows 10 and newer, Atomic Heart is still scheduled for release on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.
