The 650cc cruiser bike will be available in two variants: Standard and Tourer, with prices ranging between Rs 3.5 lakh and Rs 4 lakh. SpaceX is serious about landing its Starship on the Moon this Year

0

Space Exploration Technologies Corporation (SpaceX) has begun the highly anticipated orbital test flight of its Starship rocket. The rocket is currently the largest in the world, and it uses 33 engines to lift off, but its booster has yet to be tested. After spending 2022 fine-tuning Starship’s design, SpaceX has begun 2023 by sharing regular updates about the project, which has generated significant public interest and frequently resulted in crowds of people flocking to the firm’s test and development facilities in Boca Chica, Texas, to catch a glimpse of the massive launch vehicle.

SpaceX earlier shared some updates and images of Starship on Twitter, following the release of some of the first images of a fully stacked Starship by its CEO, Mr. Elon Musk, and SpaceX itself. The rocket consists of two stages: the first stage Super Heavy booster and the second stage Starship spacecraft. When fully stacked, the launch vehicle measures 394 feet tall.

SpaceX teams are now reportedly preparing for the rocket’s wet dress rehearsal as well as the firing of the 33 Raptor engines on the first stage booster.

A wet dress rehearsal is when a rocket’s various systems are tested just before the engines are ignited for liftoff. It includes, among other things, bringing the ground support systems online and fueling the vehicle.

SpaceX
credit: wccftech

For liftoff, Starship is one of the few rockets in human history that uses more than two dozen engines connected via the same plumbing system. The Falcon Heavy, SpaceX’s heavy lift vehicle, has 27 engines on its first stage, but these are divided into three sets of nine because the rocket is made up of three Falcon 9 stages joined together.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Artemis programme also includes starships. This programme aims to land the first humans on the moon’s surface in the twenty-first century, and the space agency has already reserved three flights from SpaceX. The first is a lunar landing demonstration flight, the second is a crewed mission, and the third is a contract extension.

SpaceX
credit: wccftech

The scale and size of the rocket are influenced by Musk’s desire to use it to establish a “self-sustaining human colony on Mars.” Flights to Mars, on the other hand, are limited by orbital mechanics because they require the correct placement of planets, which occurs only once every two years. The next launch window is scheduled to open in September 2024, and if the upcoming Starship tests are successful, SpaceX will almost certainly attempt a Mars mission with its rocket just as it begins demonstrating lunar landings to NASA.

Spotify is now back Online after its Friday Outage

0

Spotify’s audio streaming platform experienced a brief outage on Friday, preventing tens of thousands of users from accessing the platform before services appeared to be restored. The outage has received over 30,000 reports on DownDetector.com, beginning shortly before 8 p.m. ET and rapidly increasing since then. At the height of the outage, Downdetector, reported more than 45,000 affected users from the United States.

Spotify
credit: theverge

The company’s web API status page indicates a “minor” partial outage affecting only the player itself, which is consistent with what we’re seeing — but that’s also the most important part of Spotify.

The last time we saw this kind of service-wide outage for Spotify, it was due to a Google Cloud issue, but there’s no indication of a larger cloud or routing issue that could have impacted other services.

As Spotify resumed service, Downdetector reported that the number of reports of outages had dropped below 2,000.

Intel reportedly unblocks software download in Russia

0

According to multiple reports in Russian media, Intel has resumed allowing driver and software downloads inside Russia and Belarus due to US sanctions imposed as a result of the Ukraine war. Russian users were previously unable to download Intel software in the immediate aftermath of US sanctions. According to these reports, Microsoft has quietly re-enabled automatic Windows 11 updates for Russian users.

According to Russian media reports, Intel’s initial download block began on February 25, 2022, and appears to be based on the user’s geographic location. As a result, both individuals and businesses in Russia were unable to access downloads from Intel’s official site, forcing them to spoof their IP address with a VPN, use torrents, or locate copies of the drivers stored in various forums.

Some ‘Experts,’ according to Russian media, contended that Intel’s blocks prevented the company from fulfilling its warranty obligations to Russian users.

Intel
credit: tomshardware

According to Izvestia and CNews (Russian media), it will be possible to access the Intel download portal without using IP spoofing as of January 11, 2023. However, because the main Intel Russia website is still inaccessible, it had to find the download section via Yandex or Google.

Surprisingly, the driver updates appear to be available only through the automatic download tool. Despite the fact that the Driver and Support Assistant software, which automatically instals and updates drivers, is free to use, the outlet claims that Intel does not allow direct downloads of the drivers without first registering and creating a profile on Intel’s Russia website, which is not permitted from a Russian IP address. According to the reports, Microsoft has quietly resumed allowing Windows 11 updates within the country, despite the fact that the operating system cannot be downloaded.

Esports athletes & Gamers met Hon’ble MOS (MeitY) Shri Rajeev Chandrashekhar to review online gaming rules

0

Tirth Mehta, the 2018 Asian Games bronze medalist in Hearthstone and professional FIFA athlete Karman Singh were among the attendees of the meet that shed light on the draft gaming rules and impact of online gaming

Led by Rajeev Chandrashekhar, Minister of State for the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, MeitY held a very meaningful & successful consultation with children, parents, teachers, esports athletes, gamers, and safety and trust organizations on the proposed amendments to the IT Rules 2021 in relation to online gaming on Wednesday 11th Jan at Electronics Niketan, MeitY office, New Delhi.

Distinguished Esports athletes, Tirth Mehta (Asian Games’18 Bronze Medalist), Karman Singh Tikka (Team India – Esports, Asian Games’22), Dhruv Salvadi and Snehil Ahirwar alongside Lokesh Suji, Director of Esports Federation of India and Board Member & VP, Asian Esports Federation were part of the prominent group present at the discussion and gave their fundamental insights & suggestions on the matter. Shri Priyank Kanoongo (Chairperson – National Commission for Protection of Child Rights) was also present at this meeting.

Dhruv Salvadi raising his point in the meeting Esports athletes & Gamers met Hon’ble MOS (MeitY) Shri Rajeev Chandrashekhar to review online gaming rules

Professor (Dr.) Tejpavan Gandhok (Vice Dean – JGBS, Associate Director Centre for Sports Law & Governance, Jindal Global University) highlighted “We suggest using different terminology and/ or clarifying the current draft’s definition of ‘online games’ – to better cater for 4 distinct segments of games: Real money; Casual; Esports; and learning. Also, the best practice safeguards to be adopted by the proposed guidelines should be appropriately tailored for these 4 distinct segments”

According to MeitY’s Information Technology (IT) Rules, 2021 in relation to online gaming, “online game” means a game that is offered on the Internet and is accessible by a user through a computer resource if he makes a deposit with the expectation of earning winnings.

Raising a crucial query on this point, Dhruv Salvadi (an avid gamer who recently graduated from Manipal Institute of Technology) said, “Multiple esports tournaments organised at college or ground level at times require a registration fee in order for the athletes and teams to compete in it whereupon the winners are presented with prizes which may be in cash and/or kind. This rule can create confusion among the public regarding such Esports tournaments/championships Hence clarity is needed in the definition of ‘online gaming’, he was also of the same opinion that instead of ‘online gaming’ it should be ‘igaming’ so as to establish a clear difference between Esports (which is sport and played electronically) and igaming”

Dhruv further pointed out “Also, for video games that charge users to use their products or contain microtransactions, will all online video game developers need to get KYC for their users?” to which Rajeev ji said, “e-KYC is mandatory for all financial transactions”.

Further, expressing his opinion on the need for differentiating between video gaming and online gaming, Lokesh Suji also a former esports athlete who participated in Call of Duty World Championship – 2018 (New Orleans) said, The worldwide & dictionary meaning of ‘online game’ is “electronic game played over a computer network, particularly over the Internet”, whereas the draft has added “deposit with the expectation of earning winnings” to this, and is confusing for the public at large. Since these amendments are to regulate fantasy, teen patti, poker, rummy, betting, gambling etc., instead of calling them ‘online gaming’ we should define them as ‘igaming’ the way the rest of the world has defined them. This enlightening meeting will play a crucial role in the proposed amendments for the IT Rules related to igaming and propel the industry to remarkable heights.
