NDTV: Gautam Adani has taken over the whole of RRPR’s board of directors

A day after Prannoy Roy and his wife Radhika Roy, who founded the television network, resigned from their positions as directors of the promoter group vehicle RRPR Holding Private Limited, as Adani Enterprises announced the resignation of the entire board of directors of NDTV.

The Roys, however, continue to serve on the news channel’s board of directors and still own 32.26 percent of NDTV as promoters. The main Adani company disclosed the members of RRPR’s board of directors via a stock market filing.

Word from Adani Enterprises

In a stock exchange filing, Adani Enterprises stated that they would like to inform the public that RRPR Holding Private Limited issued 1,990,000 equity shares to VCPL on November 28, 2022, representing 99.50% of the paid-up share capital of RRPR. This was in response to the Warrant Exercise Notice that VCPL had sent to RRPR on August 23, 2022. In this regard, VCPL also got a share certificate from RRPR on November 29, 2022.

Furthermore, they added that with effect from November 29, 2022, Sudipta Bhattacharya, Sanjay Pugalia, and Senthil Sinniah Chengalvarayan will serve as directors of RRPR. With effect from November 29, 2022, Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy have resigned from the RRPR board of directors. As a result, the whole board of directors of RRPR is now made up of Sudipta Bhattacharya, Sanjay Pugalia, and Senthil Sinniah Chengalvarayan, who are also directors on the board of VCPL.

Acquiring the NDTV

At the Adani Group, Pugalia serves as both the company’s CEO and editor-in-chief of media projects. The Adani Group purchased RRPR, which owned a 29.18% interest in the news network.

A company connected to Reliance Industries granted Roys an interest-free loan in 2009 for more than Rs 400 crore, which was eventually repaid by a privately held company called Vishvapradhan Commercial Pvt Ltd. With the aid of the loan, VCPL was able to convert warrants into RRPR Holdings shares, which owned a 29.2% stake in NDTV.

In August, the Adani group acquired VCPL and attempted to convert the warrants into shares. A conversion that handed VCPL a 99.5% share in RRPR Holding was approved earlier this week despite initial opposition from NDTV promoters who claimed they had not been consulted. After purchasing VCPL, the Adani group announced an open offer to buy a 26% stake in NDTV. This promotion started on November 22 and ends on December 5.

53.27 lakh shares, or one-third of the open offer size, have received offers thus far. This is true even when the open offer price is being offered at a significant discount to the stock’s existing price.

The ports-to-energy conglomerate is requesting up to 1.67 crore shares, or 26% of equity, from NDTV’s minority investors. If the open offer is accepted, the Adani group will hold a controlling stake of just over 55%.

Amitabh Bachchan and Rashmika Mandana’s first film, ‘Goodbye‘has got a huge response from the audience. The story of the movie indicates a dysfunctional family drama that has given some hits about comedy. The theatre release has made Rs. 6.38 Crore box office collection, and now the film is set to hit on Netflix this December. In the trailer, we have seen Neena Gupta plays the role of the wife of Amitabh Bachchan had died. The promises he made sound very tragic, and the movie is dealing with that same way of comedy.  

We have got some sort of similarity between Pagglait and Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi, the movie also introduces us to many characters who hold the dialogues that sound quite inappropriate if it has been presented independently but have made such complete sense while told into the text on their surroundings.

In the new trailer, the story depicts the Bhalla family children who are trying to come to terms with the death of their mother getting played by Neena Gupta. The onscreen husband of Neena Gupta wishes to cremate her in such a traditional manner along with his daughter arise questions about t the archaic practices as she has refused to embrace the logic just behind putting cotton in the nose of her mother, tying her toes and other things with the entire family, and the friends set to indulge.  

She has seen no differences in her brothers. One says he has tucked in Dubai, ordering a feast of butter chicken, another just refused to shave his head for the final rituals. The father becomes disappointed due to the attitude of his kids.

Now, the current friction between the father-daughter become played by Big B and Rashmika looks like the central premise now. The film Goodbye has masked the Hindi debut of Rashmika Mandana. The last time we have seen the actress in the most appreciated Telugu film with Allu Arjun. Now, the film hot turned out to be a pan-India hit that has made Rashmika become a known face in the country. Rashmila is also set to come with the Hindi movies Mission Manju with Sidharth Malhotra, and Animal featuring Ranbir Kapoor.  

Goodbye has been made under production by Balaji Motion Pictures, Saraswati Pvt. Ltd, Viraj Sawant and Vikas Bahl. The film got written and also directed by Vikas Bahl. Bahl is very popular for his film Super 30, Queen, and Shaandaar.

Tata Group wants to purchase the iPhone Maker Wistron in India

Tata Group is in talks to purchase Wistron Corp. of Taipei, one of Apple Inc.’s top suppliers in India, for up to 5,000 crore ($612.6 million). In 2017, Wistron started producing iPhones in India, following years of efforts by Apple to expand its manufacturing presence there. The Taipei-based business now assembles iPhones at its facility in the southern Indian state of Karnataka.

According to a September report by Bloomberg News, the Taiwanese supplier to Apple Inc. and Tata Group are negotiating to form a joint venture in India to manufacture electronics with the goal of assembling iPhones there.

If the agreement is successful, Tata might become the first Indian business to manufacture iPhones, which are now primarily put together in China and India by Taiwanese manufacturing behemoths like Wistron and Foxconn Technology Group.

The country’s efforts to compete with China, whose dominance in electronics manufacturing has been threatened by sweeping Covid lockdowns and political problems with the US, would receive a huge boost from an Indian company producing iPhones. It might also convince other major global electronics manufacturers to think about doing their assembly in India in order to lessen their dependency on China at a time when geopolitical dangers are rising.

Electronics and high-tech manufacturing are two main areas of focus for the company, India’s largest conglomerate with annual revenue of around $128 billion, according to Tata Group Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran. Tata does much of its business in sectors like software, steel, and automobiles, but it has pioneered the smartphone supply chain by beginning to produce iPhone chassis components in southern India.

A deal with Tata would provide Wistron’s Indian company, which is experiencing losses, a strong local partner with substantial resources. According to a Bloomberg story, Tata’s reach extends to the automotive industry, especially electric vehicles, a market that many of the world’s IT behemoths are eager to enter.

With an investment of 1,250 crore, Wistron InfoComm recently became the single largest investor under the government’s production-linked incentives (PLI) scheme for large-scale electronics manufacturing. Samsung and Foxconn local units came in second and third, with 900 crore and 650 crore, respectively. The programme was introduced by the government in March 2020 to promote manufacturing and generate employment.

HP Wolf Security report shows the powerful combination of archive files and HTML smuggling is helping threat actors hoodwink detection tools

HP Inc. (NYSE: HPQ) today issued its third quarter HP Wolf Security Threat Insights Report, finding that archive file formats – such as ZIP and RAR files – were the most common file type for delivering malware, surpassing Office files for the first time in three years. This report provides an analysis of real-world cyberattacks, helping organizations to keep up with the latest techniques cybercriminals use to evade detection and breach users in the fast-changing cybercrime landscape.

Based on data from millions of endpoints running HP Wolf Security, the research found 44% of malware was delivered inside archive files – an 11% rise on the previous quarter – compared to 2% delivered through Office files such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

The report identified several campaigns that were combining the use of archive files with new HTML smuggling techniques – where cybercriminals embed malicious archive files into HTML files to bypass email gateways – to then launch attacks.

For example, recent QakBot and IceID campaigns used HTML files to direct users to fake online document viewers that were masquerading as Adobe. Users were then instructed to open a ZIP file and enter a password to unpack the files, which then deployed malware onto their PCs.

As the malware within the original HTML file is encoded and encrypted, detection by email gateway or other security tools is very difficult. Instead, the attacker relies on social engineering, creating a convincing and well-designed web page to fool people into initiating the attack by opening the malicious ZIP file. In October, the same attackers were also found using fake Google Drive pages in an ongoing effort to trick users into opening malicious ZIP files.

“Archives are easy to encrypt, helping threat actors to conceal malware and evade web proxies, sandboxes, or email scanners. This makes attacks difficult to detect, especially when combined with HTML smuggling techniques. What was interesting with the QakBot and IceID campaigns was the effort put in to creating the fake pages – these campaigns were more convincing than what we’ve seen before, making it hard for people to know what files they can and can’t trust,” explains Alex Holland, Senior Malware Analyst, HP Wolf Security threat research team, HP Inc.

HP also identified a complex campaign using a modular infection chain, which could potentially enable attackers to change the payload – such as spyware, ransomware, keylogger – mid-campaign, or to introduce new features, like geo-fencing. This could enable an attacker to change tactics depending on the target they have breached. By not including malware directly in the attachment sent to the target, it is also harder for email gateways to detect this type of attack.

“As shown, attackers are constantly switching up techniques, making it very difficult for detection tools to spot,” comments Dr Ian Pratt, Global Head of Security for Personal Systems, HP Inc. “By following the Zero Trust principle of fine-grained isolation, organizations can use micro-virtualization to make sure potentially malicious tasks – like clicking on links or opening malicious attachments – are executed in a disposable virtual machine separated from the underlying systems. This process is completely invisible to the user, and traps any malware hidden within, making sure attackers have no access to sensitive data and preventing them from gaining access and moving laterally.”

HP Wolf Security runs risky tasks like opening email attachments, downloading files and clicking links in isolated, micro-virtual machines (micro-VMs) to protect users, capturing detailed traces of attempted infections. HP’s application isolation technology mitigates threats that can slip past other security tools and provides unique insights into novel intrusion techniques and threat actor behavior. By isolating threats on PCs that have evaded detection tools, HP Wolf Security has specific insight into the latest techniques being used by cybercriminals. To date, HP customers have clicked on over 18 billion email attachments, web pages, and downloaded files with no reported breaches.

Fujifilm India, a pioneer in photographic devices and electronic imaging, conducted a short film screening event for an Indian winner Joseph Mathew Daniel who emerged as a regional winner under GFX Grant Program 2021. The screening was held in Chennai at NFDC.

The GFX Challenge Grant Program, by FUJIFILM, is a grant program that awards 5 Global Grant Awards and 10 Regional Grant Awards to empower ambitious creatives in recognizing their imaging projects and bringing them to life. The challenge brings an opportunity for all the shutterbugs around the globe to showcase the best of their creativity and art through their Photography & Cinematography skills.

The Grant Challenge was conducted at global & Asia-Pacific region, where an Indian participant, Joseph Mathew Daniel with his live creative exposures turned out to be the winner of the Asia Pacific GFX challenge. His work titled ‘Iqbal Mohamed in Harmony with Nature’ emerged as the AP regional winner among 3000 participants in the global challenge. The 32 minutes short film has been shot on Fujifilm GFX 100, explores the delicate and pure relationship Mr. Iqbal shares with nature and how nature has, in a very magical way, reciprocated Iqbal’s love for it and revealed to him its most beautiful side. Iqbal’s timeless masterpieces have inspired a generation of photography enthusiasts in India. Using a modified Rolls-Royce AE 2100-A regional aircraft engine, the test was conducted at the MoD Boscombe Down outdoor test facility in the UK. EMEC (European Marine Energy Centre), which produces green hydrogen at its hydrogen production and tidal testing facility on Eday in the Orkney Islands, provided the green hydrogen for the tests. This hydrogen was produced using renewable energy.

The global, UN-backed Race to Zero campaign, to which both businesses have committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions by the year 2050, served as the inspiration for the partnership.

According to the company, its R&D centers will hire 200 engineers this hiring season from IITs including, but not limited to, IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Bombay, IIT Roorkee, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Guwahati, and IIT BHU.

However, the thick bezels all around on the 7a’s front make its price point much more obvious.
