Mbappe was dropped by coach Luis Enrique on Sunday night after having played 90 minutes against visitors Real Sociedad in the Champions League in midweek and then revealing privately his intention to leave PSG in summer at the end of the season.

He has scored the most goals for the Parisians both in France and in Europe. Mbappe has also helped France win the World Cup at 2018, scored in consecutive World Cup Finals, including a hat-trick. He’s won the tournament’s Golden Boot, and gone on to lead France as a captain.
He is the most prolific and consistent goal-scorer the French league has ever witnessed since Jean-Pierre Papin was rampaging for Marseille in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Dani Alves has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison for rape, with the incident occuring in late December 2022. The former footballer was arrested in January 2023 and has been held in prison pretrial ever since. Now, the court has ruled that the event was not consensual and that Alves did sexually assault the victim.
“The sentence considers that it has been proven that the victim did not consent, and that there is evidence, in addition to the testimony of the plaintiff, to consider the rape proven,” the statement said.

The decision against the former Barcelona player was “considered proven that the accused abruptly grabbed the plaintiff, threw her to the floor and prevented her from moving” to carry out the sexual assault.
The court has also ordered Dani Alves to pay €150,000 to the woman in question as damages. Ines Guardiola, Alves’ lawyer, said that they would appeal the decision further.
The prosecutors were looking for a nine-year prison sentence for the footballer. But Alves has been ordered to a five-year period of supervised freedom after his prison sentence, as part of the court’s ruling. He is also forbidden from going within one kilometre of the woman and is not allowed to contact her for nine years.

Dani Alves pleaded that he didn’t commit the crime, and that even though he invited the woman into a VIP washroom, nothing of the sort happened. He also added that he “isn’t that type of a person” to commit such a heinous crime.

Barcelona have been asked to reduce their wage bill from £231m to 174m ahead of the coming season by LaLiga. Their total spend on players amounts to £421 million, including wages and amortisation costs that are still left, which is well above league limits. The club appealed to account for their future earnings from media and TV now so that they could comply with the FFP rules. But, that has been rejected by UEFA and they have been left with no other choice but to negotiate lower wages.
Lewandowski, Ronald Araujo, De Jong and Pedri are some of the highest earners in the team. And they might have to sacrifice some amount of their wages now that the ruling has called for a further cut.

Barcelona have made use of free signings in recent windows to ease the pressure on their accounts. The likes of Ilkay Gundogan, Inigo Martinez, Franck Kessie and Eric Garcia have joined the club as free agents to help the club cut down on transfer expenses, but it hasn’t helped them all that much.
Barcelona’s woes with financial fair play started back when they were unable to extend Lionel Messi’s contract in 2021. And it continues to haunt them now, three years later, with non compliance warranting a possible ban from the UEFA Champions League.
