The midfielder called time on his national career after crashing out of the 2021 Euros against England, and has now decided to return. He will be playing the fixtures in March ahead of the tournament in the summer.
The German maintained character as part of his announcement, keeping it short and sweet. The national team will be playing the Euros at home, and perhaps the opportunity has just proven to be too good to resist for the iconic midfielder.

Because I was asked by the federal coach, I’m in the mood and I’m sure that with the team at the European Championship, much more is possible than most believe right now!,” Kroos wrote on his Instagram to announce the decision.
In spite of being 34 years of age, Toni Kroos has remained at the peak of his abilities, regularly dictating play for Real Madrid. Julien Nagelsmann reportedly had a personal conversation with the player to convince him to return, and he succeeded in the role.

Kroos made his debut for the German national team in 2010, and was a part of the squad that lifted the FIFA World Cup in 2014. He has earned 106 caps for the national team, scoring 17 goals and providing 19 assists over the years.
The team hasn’t quite been performing up to expectations, with standards falling in spite of having a promising squad. Perhaps the presence of a leader like Kroos in the centre of the park will bring in more mental fortitude and direction in tense moments.
