What’s Next — ₹165 Crore Lifetime Projection
Directed by Priyadarshan, the horror comedy is expected to cross the ₹160 crore nett mark in its fifth week before marching towards a projected lifetime collection of around ₹165 crore nett. That would make it a genuine, full-blooded HIT — something Bollywood’s biggest stars have been struggling to deliver consistently in recent years.
The horror comedy genre — a tricky blend that very few Indian filmmakers master — has found its sweet spot here, with Priyadarshan’s trademark comic timing meeting Akshay’s mass appeal head-on.
Why This Hit Matters More Than Just the Numbers
Let’s be honest — Bhooth Bangla arriving as a genuine HIT is a bigger deal than just its box office total. Akshay Kumar had gone through a rough patch post-pandemic, with a string of underperformers. Last year was somewhat better with three films performing decently, but now there is finally a confirmed HIT on his slate.
The industry tends to thrive when Akshay Kumar is in good form. He typically delivers two to three successful films a year — a work ethic that keeps the box office ticking when others take two to three years between releases. In a star-driven market like India, consistent output from leading actors is what keeps theatres alive.
