Weddings are full of planned celebrations, but it’s the unscripted, chaotic, utterly human moments that end up living rent-free in everyone’s memory — and in everyone’s Instagram Reels. That’s exactly what happened when Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and an emerging filmmaker himself, attended the wedding of his best friend Maahir Mehta with Rhea Nadkarni. What was supposed to be a lighthearted game of joota churai — a beloved Indian wedding tradition where the bride’s side playfully steals the groom’s shoes for a ransom — turned into an all-out, laugh-a-minute showdown.

Aryan threw himself into the chaos so completely that he nearly toppled over, and the internet absolutely loved every second of it. The clip has since gone viral and honestly, it’s easy to see why. In a world of perfectly curated wedding content, this felt refreshingly real. To learn more about this beloved tradition, check out the Wikipedia page on Indian wedding customs.

What Exactly Happened at the Wedding?

Wedding planners Zesst Events posted a video on their official Instagram handle giving a glimpse into the wedding of Rhea Nadkarni and Maahir Mehta, revealing that Maahir is Aryan’s best friend. The caption described the event as a chaotic, laugh-filled dhamaal where the joota churai turned into a full-blown mini war.

In the viral video, Aryan is seen dressed casually in jeans, a T-shirt, and a brown jacket, clutching the groom’s shoe tightly. When guests from the bride’s side tried to snatch it away, he refused to give it up — nearly falling in the process — before eventually making a run for it with the shoe still firmly in hand.

It’s the kind of best-friend energy that genuinely warms your heart. No bodyguards, no star-power posturing — just a guy going absolutely all-in for his best mate’s wedding shoe.
