Major Redesign
The company also plans to show off a revamped device, an update that’s been anticipated for almost three years. If true, that would be the first significant design refresh since 2010 and potentially could make it Apple’s smallest desktop ever. The new version is predicted to be similar in size but slightly taller than the Apple TV and retain its aluminum housing. One report went so far as to say it looks like an “iPad Pro in a small box.”
5 USB-C Ports
New leaked data reveals the next Mac mini will have five USB-C ports, with two possibly being at the front. These ports are expected to be paired with Thunderbolt 4 support in some areas, while the full complement of five could potentially only arrive on the M4 Pro version.
M4 Chip
The latest Mac Mini will debut in M4 and M4 Pro varieties, replacing the older variant of the series by leaps. Built on a 3nm process, the M4 chip will offer enhanced performance and energy efficiency, along with a powerful Neural Engine capable of handling 38 trillion operations per second for faster computing speeds.
16GB Base RAM and Release
Reports indicate that the new models will likely start with 16GB of unified memory, addressing long-standing concerns about the adequacy of 8GB for creative workflows. The redesigned Mac mini is expected to be announced by the end of October, with a launch in early November.
