The wait for a Studio Display refresh has been long — four years long. But new leaks based on internal Apple code are painting a compelling picture of what’s coming, and it sounds like Apple is finally ready to make its monitor lineup worth talking about again.

Why This Refresh Is a Bigger Deal Than It Sounds
The current Apple Studio Display launched in March 2022 and hasn’t been touched since. It’s stuck at 60Hz, runs on an A13 Bionic chip, and offers just one Thunderbolt 3 port. For a $1,599 monitor, that’s increasingly hard to justify in 2026.

The new models fix nearly everything. Both are expected to get ProMotion 120Hz and HDR support — features that make a visible difference in everyday use, from smoother scrolling to punchier visuals. The higher-end variant reportedly adds upgraded speakers and higher-spec ports on top of that, with at least one Thunderbolt 5 connection confirmed as a near-certainty given the bandwidth demands of 5K at 120Hz.
The A19 or A19 Pro chip upgrade also opens the door to a much improved Centre Stage webcam — something that has been a consistent criticism of the current model. As TechnoSports has noted, a new Apple monitor also recently appeared in a regulatory database, suggesting a launch is genuinely close.
No major design changes are expected — but with this feature set, none are needed.
