Meet Matthew Lee — The Most Surprisingly Loveable Overachiever
There’s something genuinely refreshing about the character Ahn Hyo Seop is stepping into here. Matthew Lee, nicknamed “Mechoori” (meaning “Quail” — a playful nod to how his name sounds in Korean), isn’t your typical rom-com lead. Behind a seemingly prickly exterior is a man with a quietly warm heart who spends his days running errands for village elders, carefully cultivating the rare white flower nuri mushroom — reportedly a miracle ingredient for the cosmetics industry — while simultaneously running a natural ingredient company and conducting cosmetics research.
The newly released stills capture this delightful duality perfectly: one moment he’s a straw-hat-wearing farmer riding a cultivator through fields, and the next he’s dressed in sharp CEO attire exuding serious boardroom charisma. It’s the kind of character contrast that romantic comedies are built for.
The Chemistry to Watch
Opposite Matthew’s overworked sincerity stands Dam Ye Jin (Chae Won Bin), a high-profile show host battling severe insomnia. Two people on opposite ends of the lifestyle spectrum, both clearly running from — or toward — something. The tension practically writes itself.
Ahn Hyo Seop has built a strong track record across hit projects including the Dr. Romantic series, Lovers of the Red Sky, A Business Proposal, and KPop Demon Hunters — proving he can handle everything from period romance to contemporary comedy with equal charm. Expectations for Sold Out On You are rightfully sky-high.
