I Went to School: Overview

What Is the Story About?

The drama follows Yoon Ok Hee, a meddlesome mother who starts a late-in-life college journey. Her chaotic attempts to navigate campus life promise plenty of laughs. Along the way she forms unexpected connections that gradually bring people together as a family, one bound by ties stronger than blood.

The mix of light humour and heartfelt moments suggests a warm, relatable watch for viewers of all ages.

Meet the Characters

Lee Jung Eun as Yoon Ok Hee

Ok Hee is a passionate mother who decides to pursue higher education in hopes of starting a new chapter. She takes charge of all kinds of local affairs in her neighbourhood and runs an instant tteokbokki restaurant. That leaves her with barely enough hours in the day, which makes her college dream even bolder.

Sooyoung as Kang Eun Ho

Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung plays Ok Hee’s daughter, a cynical radio producer-director. She has a strong “T” personality in MBTI terms, so she handles problems pragmatically rather than emotionally. She can seem blunt and indifferent, yet she is a thoughtful, dependable eldest daughter who supports her mother’s new challenge more than anyone else.

Lee Sung Jae as Kang Ji Chul

Ji Chul is Ok Hee’s husband and a once-legendary boxer whose career has taken an unfortunate turn. He’s a macho man who acts before he speaks, and he faces the biggest storm of his life when his wife begins her new adventure.

Jeon Sung Woo as Han Seung Woo

Seung Woo is a longtime friend of Eun Ho and a leading anchor at KMS Broadcasting Station. He’s smart, witty and naturally charming. He and Eun Ho constantly bicker, but he’s the one friend she has let get close. An unexpected incident makes him discover feelings he never knew he had, which shifts their friendship.

Kang Seung Yoon as Kang Jun

WINNER’s Kang Seung Yoon plays the troublemaking eldest son who is impossible to hate. He knows no middle ground and tends to go overboard with bravado and brazenness, yet his charm draws people in. After a string of failed business ventures, he dreams of turning his life around with a boxing diet program at his father’s gym.
