iPhone 17 Air: Reports are coming out that claim that Apple and Samsung will soon launch thin variants of their flagship smartphones. Based on a South Korea’s Sisa Journal report, the iPhone 17 Air and Galaxy S25 Slim could arrive in 2025, while pricing is expected to be in line with that of the existing models. Here’s what we know so far.

Apple’s iPhone 17 Air and Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Slim Tipped to Launch in 2025 with Slimmer, Sleek Designs

The iPhone 17 Air is expected to replace the iPhone 16 Plus, which hasn’t been popular with customers to the same extent as the Pro versions. Most intriguingly, the 17 Air will be extremely thin at just 6.25mm thick. The phone could feature a 6.6-inch screen with slim bezels and the Dynamic Island. In particular, the entire iPhone 17 lineup is expected to feature a 120Hz refresh rate from Apple.

Due to its slim profile, the device could drop physical SIM card support for eSIM instead. A reduction in battery capacity, possibly below the iPhone 16’s 3561 mAh, is also anticipated. It’s also expected that the iPhone 17 Air will introduce Apple’s first proprietary modem, supplanting Qualcomm’s.

However, Samsung is likely to unveil the Galaxy S25 Slim alongside its flagship lineup. At a sought-after thickness of 6.5mm, it would also be 1mm thinner than the current Galaxy S24 base device. However, development timelines suggest that while the Galaxy S25 Series may launch globally in Q1 2025, the Galaxy S25 Slim might arrive later, around mid-2025.

The Sisa Journal report indicates the iPhone 17 Air will be priced similarly to the iPhone 16 Plus, while the Galaxy S25 Slim may sit below the premium Galaxy S25 Ultra in terms of cost. As neither Apple nor Samsung has officially confirmed these devices, the information should be viewed with cautious optimism.
