Liverpool are set to call back Fabio Carvalho from his loan spell at RB Leipzig during the January transfer window. The midfielder has played only 257 minutes across all competitions since signing for the Bundesliga club this summer. Liverpool are not happy with the situation since they wanted the Portuguese midfielder to get regular playing time to accelerate his development.Â
But he has found himself on the bench regularly, and it could lead to a second loan spell for him this season. A final decision over compensation and the rest of the technicalities will be made soon.
Fabio Carvalho to return from loan spell at RB LeipzigÂ
The youngster started RB Leipzig’s final Champions League group stage game against BSC Young Boys. He played all 90 minutes as they picked up a 2-1 win, but didn’t contribute to any goals.
A lot was expected of the former Fulham player when he made the move to Liverpool a couple of seasons ago. But, he hasn’t been able to grow accustomed to the level of play just yet. After a season of sporadic appearances under Jurgen Klopp, it was expected that the loan move would allow him time to hone his skills.
But two seasons of irregular opportunities have halted his progress. And now, the player and the club will have to carefully decide what lies next for him since Liverpool since see Fabio Carvalho as an important part of their project for the future.
