NVIDIA’s new RTX 30-series GPUs have just been announced, we are getting a lot of leaks about the performance of these cards and now we have a pretty solid benchmark that proves the new Ampere based GPU’s supremacy over Turing GPUs. NVIDIA promises huge performance gains over the RTX 20-series GPUs and promised improvements we have never seen before in a generational leap.
Now, that is some kind of positivity for new GPU buyers and a nightmare for old RTX GPU owners. When Jensen Huang told that the new RTX 3070 would be faster than the last year’s flagship RTX 2080 Ti that takes an insane $1200 (almost) to afford at half the prices, I literally was thinking what a pathetic situation a recent RTX 2080 or RTX 2080 Ti owner must be going through.
Well, if you have thought that was just random numbers thrown upon by NVIDIA, then you are mistaken as the new Geekbench leak clearly shows the dominance of the RTX 3080 which should retail at a mouth-watering price of $699, giving almost 25% better performance. Yes, the new flagship GPU will give over 25% better GPU performance than last year’s insanely priced RTX 2080 Ti.
Shared by the prolific tipster @TUM_APISAK, both the GPUs were spotted running on an ASUS motherboard paired with Core i9-10900K and 16GB RAM. In the GeekBench OpenCL test, the RTX 3080 scored a hefty 468948 points while last year flagship scoring 374572 points this is almost a 25% performance difference, proving the new RTX 3080 to be much superior and absolutely worth it even in the real world benchmarks as well.
The new RTX 3080 sports has a complete design overhaul, now with 30 Shader-TFLOPS, 58 RT-FLOPS, and 238 Tensor-TFLOPS, which makes this even more powerful on the hardware front. Also coupled with high-speed GDDR6X memory running at 19Gbps, makes this an ideal 4K gaming GPU and is 2x faster than the original RTX 2080.
NVIDIA’s new optimizations and DLSS 2.0 promises 4K 60 FPS gaming without any frame drops whatsoever which will make this even more popular among gamers who now have a lot of RTX enabled games in the market. As NVIDIA states: the RTX 3080 is the perfect mix of fast performance and cutting-edge capabilities, leading Huang to declare it NVIDIA’s “new flagship GPU.”
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 will be available from September 17th onwards at $699, we will see a lot of third party cards as well.
