Mohun Bagan are in contact with Deportivo midfielder Alberto Quiles for a transfer this summer. The player is out of contract in the coming weeks, and has been offered an extension, but is yet to make a final decision on his future. As a result, the ISL Cup winners have joined the race for his signature.Â
There is no agreement between either party as things stand, and the race is still open. But, the Mariners are trying to lure the winger to India to bolster their squad.
Alberto Quiles on the radar of Mohun Bagan for summer transferÂ
This season, the winger has scored 16 goals and assisted five in 32 league appearances in Spain’s third division. He is one of the standout performers for Deportivo and would be a huge addition to Mohun Bagan’s already stacked attack.
The probability of a transfer is not very high, since the player is entering his prime at 28, and will want to maintain a high level of competition. As a result, the deal is going to be difficult, but not impossible.
Quiles would be replacing Manvir Singh in the lineup, who was used as a right-winger this past season. Mohun Bagan already have Liston Colaco to operate on the left, and Dimitri Petratos to play through the middle.
The club is expected to confirm the arrival of Anirudh Thapa from Chennaiyin FC in an ISL record deal worth Rs 3 crore. Moreover, they are also planning to announce the signing of Anwar Ali from Delhi FC very soon, following his impressive loan spell with FC Goa this past season.
