It seems the upcoming Intel Core i5-12600K could outperform Ryzen 7 5800X

Intel is coming back strong this time with Alder Lake CPUs as they finally will be using its highly anticipated 10nm process on its mainstream desktops. Already we have seen leaked benchmarks of Core i9-12900K, Core i7-12700 and more, but now we have some interesting rumours about the budget Intel Core i5-12600K.

The Silicon giant has been making a good number of Core i3 and Core i5 sales even with 10th Gen and with Rocket Lake as well, keeping prices down with good stocks has worked for them. However, as we know Intel will be adopting a hybrid architecture where we will a mixture of both Performance Cores and Efficient cores.

The upcoming Intel Core i5-12600K is rumoured to sport 6 Performance cores and 4 Efficient cores, that’s a lot of cores! It’s good to see Intel finally making high-performance count, adding more cores even in the budget category.

So, sources close to Moore’s Law is Dead has said it could not only be a Ryzen 5 5600X killer but actually a Ryzen 7 5800X killer! That’s no surprise as it will sport 10 cores in total and could be $100 less in pricing, so should have similar pricing like its predecessor that costs around $300 – 350 range.

Tom from MLID believes the upcoming Intel Core i5-12600K could be around 20% faster than the Ryzen 5 5600X, and even beat the best 8-core CPU out there: the Ryzen 7 5800X by around 5% in multi-core loads. This means drawing similar power, the Core i5-12600K could offer the best price/performance ratio.

Also, if Intel has those KF models without iGPU then it will be even more outstanding as the price of a Core i5-12600KF will probably be less than $300. However, Alder Lake CPUs will require new motherboards, which again makes up for the money you saved, also DDR5 memory could be another thing Intel is benefitting from.

A new build with an Alder Lake CPU and a new Windows 11 OS might cost you a bit more than Ryzen 5000 series processors, but still, enthusiasts will love the performance boost with modern features paying a bit extra. If Intel prices these 12th Gen Alder CPUs in a competitive way and maintains stocks, gamers and enthusiasts will have a great holiday to make PCs.
