Report: Beats Studio Buds has MediaTek’ TWS chip, not Apple H1

Apple launched its noise-cancelling wireless earphones under the Beats branding, Studio Buds on 14th June. There are three colour options available – Black, Beast Red, and White. Each one costs $150 and currently available to purchase.

After around 15 days after that release, Ming-Chi Kuo, a Tianfeng International analyst release a report on the Beats Studio Buds. As per his report, Apple skips its H1 chip for Studio Buds and uses MediaTek’s 22nm TWS chip. Obviously, there must be some strong reason.

Apple Beats Studio Buds surface in Taiwan's Regulatory Database

Due to low demands for the AirPods in the second quarter this year, the shipments are reduced to approximately 70 to 75 million units. Though Apple holds a good share of the global TWS market, the graph is coming down day by day. The use of TediaTek’s TWS chip will help Apple to reduce the price of Beats products than the AirPods and that may reflect on the demand.

There are more advantages as well. Have a look –

  • Short development time will need
  • Targeting non-Apple users is easy
  • Apple can take more competitive strategies
  • Apple’s this step is promoting MediaTek’s TWS chip solutions which is good for this chipmaker. MediaTek’s improvement is also beneficial for the collaboration with Apple

In simple words, the use of MediaTek’s TWS chip will help Apple to turn around in the wireless earphone market and to reach those customers who can’t afford an AirPod.
