China’s BL scene is heating up fast, and the newest release, “Deep In,” might just be its boldest entry yet. Following hits like “Feel What You Feel” and “Double Helix,” this drama flips the script by making its leads actors themselves — and the results are already messy in the best way.
What Is Deep In About?
The story follows Zhang Zhun (played by Shu Yuan), a struggling newcomer who finally lands his first lead role, opposite Zhen Xin (played by Ollie), a cold, successful veteran actor who makes nothing easy. What starts as a rocky, tense pairing during auditions quickly turns into something far more complicated once the two are cast together and asked to build real chemistry for their roles.
A Rocky Start With a Hidden History
Turns out, this isn’t their first meeting. Years earlier, Zhang Zhun worked as a stunt double on a historical drama starring Zhen Xin — quietly enduring the sidelines while Zhen Xin got all the spotlight. Zhen Xin claims not to remember him, but a lingering, longing glance from the past suggests otherwise.
