The Perfect Lie: Yoo Yeon Seok Plays a Flawless Single Dad Whose Life Is About to Crack

What if the most trustworthy man you know is hiding something? Or what if the one calling him a liar is telling the truth? MBC’s upcoming psychological thriller The Perfect Lie has just dropped new stills of Yoo Yeon Seok, and they hint at a very warm life that’s about to be turned upside down.

The Perfect Lie: The Drama

A Story Told Two Ways

The premise is deliciously tense. A man and a woman give completely opposite accounts of the same memory, and they clash fiercely as each searches for the truth. It’s the kind of setup that makes viewers pick a side by episode one, then doubt themselves by episode three.

Meet Min Joon Ho, the “Perfect” Surgeon

Yoo Yeon Seok plays Min Joon Ho, a man known for telling the truth. He’s a cardiac surgeon and a father raising his son alone after the death of his wife. By all accounts he’s flawless, with exceptional looks, professional skill and a warm personality, and he’s trusted by everyone around him.

The new stills lean into that image. In one, he flashes a comfortable, warm smile, and his eyes twinkle with a playful light as he looks at his son. It’s a sweet glimpse of their close bond.

The Crack in the Picture

Then comes the twist. Another still shows Min Joon Ho wearing a look of shock and bewilderment, as if he’s facing something totally unexpected. After seeing him so composed, that expression says a lot, and it sets up the crisis that gives the drama its hook.

Seo Hyun Jin as Kang Ji Sun

Opposite him is Seo Hyun Jin as Kang Ji Sun, a woman who insists her version of events is the truth. She’s an elementary school librarian and teacher who goes beyond simply listening, carefully examining the intentions behind people’s words. That skill could make her a formidable opponent.

A Reunion Fans Will Love

Fans of the pair may remember them together in Dr. Romantic, so this reunion comes with plenty of built-in excitement. This time, though, they’re on opposite sides of the truth.
