Nate Jacobs Is Dead — Here’s Exactly How It Happened
After kidnapping Nate over his unpaid $1 million debt, the loan sharks bury him alive in a shallow grave with only a small vent left open for air. Cassie is then given a limited time to arrange the money and save him.
Desperate and terrified, Cassie later arrives at the drop site with unexpected help from Maddy and Alamo, leading to a violent confrontation. The situation briefly looks like it may end in Nate’s favor after one of the gang members is shot during the standoff — but the episode takes a horrifying turn when it is revealed that a rattlesnake had slithered through the vent and bitten Nate while he was trapped underground.
Alamo and company help Maddy and Cassie dig Nate up, opening the coffin to find his already decomposing corpse with the snake still wrapped around him. Cassie completely breaks down. It’s brutal, earned, and utterly devastating.
Creator Sam Levinson revealed to Esquire that the death idea came to him during a morning drive. “I just had this image of a rattlesnake coming towards this pipe. He’s banging and the snake can sense the movement in the ground.
