The fourth season, consisting of 8 new episodes, arrives on Netflix on October 15, 2026, continuing the political thriller created by Debora Cahn.

The Diplomat S4: Overview

What the Trailer Reveals

The new trailer picks up with a shocking twist: a Russian submarine carrying a dangerous weapon has run aground, and it’s been stolen — allegedly by an unlikely alliance between VP Hal Wyler (Rufus Sewell) and President Grace Penn (Allison Janney). Ambassador Kate Wyler (Keri Russell) is left racing to stop the fallout, this time teaming up with an unexpected ally: the President’s husband, Todd Penn (Bradley Whitford).

Per Netflix’s official logline, Season 4 centers on “two marriages” that “threaten to eat each other alive,” as Kate and Todd unite to stop the Hal-Grace conspiracy from pushing the U.S. toward war with Russia.

New Poster & Photos

The newly released key art features the show’s core four — Kate, Hal, Grace, and Todd — locked in a tense stare-down, visually setting up the season’s central conflict. The accompanying photo gallery also teases returning storylines for Eidra and Stuart, PM Nicol Trowbridge’s rising tensions, and a new dynamic between Kate and Todd.

The show, known for blending espionage with sharp character drama, continues to be one of Netflix’s flagship political series — a genre with roots in classic works like the political thriller tradition traced on Wikipedia.
