First announced at Jump Festa ’24 back in December 2023, the remake has been one of the most talked-about upcoming anime projects in the world. Now we finally have a release window — and the details are genuinely exciting

Why This Remake Is Such a Big Deal?
One Piece isn’t just any anime — it’s the best-selling comic book of all time, with over 600 million volumes in circulation globally. A faithful, high-quality remake of its origin story has the potential to introduce Luffy and the Straw Hats to an entirely new generation of viewers who may have been put off by the original series’ age or sheer length.
The seven episodes will cover approximately 50 manga chapters, bringing the story up to the Baratie Arc — where Luffy famously first encounters Sanji — with a total runtime of around 300 minutes. All seven episodes drop simultaneously, so yes, you can binge it in one glorious sitting. whats-on-netflix
This suggests the remake is planned to eventually cover the full East Blue Saga, with more episodes coming at a later stage. For fans of WIT Studio — the team behind the first three seasons of Attack on Titan and Vinland Saga — the animation pedigree alone is enough to get excited.

The Studio Behind the Magic
WIT Studio’s involvement is arguably the most reassuring part of this whole project. The studio is famous for animating the first three seasons of Attack on Titan, as well as Vinland Saga Season 1 and Seraph of the End — a track record of handling beloved, high-stakes source material with care and quality. whats-on-netflix
Director Masashi Koizuka leads the project, with character design in the hands of chief animation directors Kyoji Asano and Takatoshi Honda. This is a serious creative team working on a seriously beloved IP.
